**Quality Engineer Sterling Heights, MI**





Our client in the Sterling Heights, MI, area, a manufacturer of automotive components, is currently seeking a full-time, direct hire Quality Engineer to join their team. **General Function:**



The Quality Engineer will be responsible for supporting the daily engineering operations and to monitor various functions of the quality department.





**Duties & Responsibilities:**




+ Adapt and promote lean manufacturing principals

+ Active participant in the Elimination of Waste Team meetings

+ Support the Companys Goals and Objectives

+ Under direction of the Director of Quality / Senior Management, respond to and follow up on external customer concerns and Corrective Action Requests (example: GM PRR process, Ford SIMS, etc.); represent the Voice of the Customer

+ Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) operations, fixturing and programming

+ Contracer fixturing and programming

+ Administration of ASI/DataMyte gage software programming and trouble-shooting

+ Responsible for repair and maintenance of all fixtures, redesign and troubleshooting

+ Responsible to assemble, review and approve PPAPs

+ Assist in development and maintenance of PFMEA/Control Plan, conduct or assist in process audits including but not limited to PFMEA/CP evaluation, production process issues and improvements

+ Champion metrology for new programs and replacements / additions to current programs and the training of Operators and Inspectors

+ Issue internal C.A.R.s, follow up to ensure closure, updating CAR database system. Issue supplier C.A.Rs, follow up to ensure closure, develop supplier relationships to improve performance

+ Analyze statistical data and make recommendations for process adjustments / improvements

+ Perform internal audits to applicable standards including customer specifics

+ Conduct all work activities in a manner that is supportive of lean operating principles, team effort and promotes the companys operational visions, values, and goals

+ Complete work assignments in a timely, accurate, and safe manner in accordance with the standards required through the company and/ or applicable Regulations / Legislation

+ Participation in training or other team activities to support ongoing continuous improvement

+ Administer Gage R & Rs as assigned

+ Other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality.





**Required Education & Experience:**




+ **Bachelors degree is a relevant Engineering discipline** (work experience equivalency in lieu of degree will be considered)

+ Minimum **3+ years experience** in related field (including **APQP** , **PPAP** , **Control** **Plans** , **FMEA** , within **Automotive** or **Manufacturing** **environment** )

+ **CMM operation and programming** a definite asset; **understanding of CMM metrology and capability limitations a minimum requirement**

+ Working knowledge of **ISO** / **TS16949** , **ISO 14001** and Customer specifics such as Q1 compliance criteria

+ Certification through **American Society for Quality** a definite asset ( **CQE** , **CQT** , **CQM** , etc.)

+ Quality software applications including **Open DMIS** , **DMIS** , **MPACT** , and statistical software such as **MiniTab**

+ Excellent communication skills for interaction with the workforce, its suppliers and customers

+ Travel to and from various company, customer and or supplier locations as needed.

+ Proficiency use of **measuring** **equipment** (scales, micrometers, calipers) and checking fixtures, and metrology tools (surface testers, CMMs)

+ Must be willing and able to work necessary overtime if required
