Description Quality Engineer (Streetsboro, Ohio)
Our client, a global leader in cold-forming technology, is currently hiring a Quality Engineer This position is a Direct Hire. Since 1845 they have provided solutions in fastening and metal forming through quality, service and technology to countless OEM’s and their suppliers.

Major responsibilities for the Quality Engineer will be to manage internal and outgoing product quality. This will include quality documentation development, facilitation of continuous improvements, and also working with suppliers and customers to resolve quality or system issues. Also important, so the Quality Engineer can validate work Technicians are doing, ability to measure and calibrate parts to correct specifications.

Essential Job Functions:
Work very closely with customers and Product Development, and also oversee a quality coop and quality technician, possibly two
Manage all internal and external quality issues from both customers and suppliers
Support and Monitor implementation of all customer and internal issues/concerns in a timely manner
Lead problem solving efforts relating to launch quality issues
Assess manufacturing issues to ensure quality systems/error proofing is not compromised
Support the shop floor for all quality related issues with effective training, documentation, product control and studies/research
Conduct metallurgical investigations, organize and perform detailed examinations and appropriate metallurgical laboratory analyses to facilitate the root cause analysis
Inspect product quality as per customer-specific requirements
Review component drawings and understand the application requirements for each component
Understand all performance and engineering specifications applied to the parts
Work with the Supply base to establish short term and long term supplier corrective action measures
Perform supplier visits/audits as deemed necessary
Review Warranty returns, follow up communications with customers and provide analysis of data as required
Development of required documentation to support the Product Development Process and in accordance with Customer requirements (e.g. APQP, PPAP and FMEA)
Participate in the development and maintenance of institutionalized quality systems (e.g. TS/IATF and ISO)
Responsible for the quality of product during the Launch phase
Control of all APQP documents via PPAP
Responsible for gage quoting and Gage design approval, PPAP review and approval, and Program Issues Review
Participate in Continuous Improvement activities for production

Qualifications:
Mechanical/Metallurgist Engineering technology diploma/degree preferred
Proficient in dimensional systems and analysis, GD&T, root cause analysis (8D’s) and implementation of corrective actions
Knowledge of APQP, PPAP and FMEA requirements
Proficient in tolerancing and tolerance stack-up requirements and gauge calibration
Proficient in calibration and measuring to specifications, and, at times, ability to measure parts multiple ways
Proficient in preparation of PPAP’s, experiments/data gathering and investigation of quality issues
Knowledge and experience with 5S, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices/initiatives
Ability to design experiments to research issues and determine opportunities for improvement
Presentation skills, strong interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills
5 years related Quality experience in an automotive, metal manufacturing environment, cold forming, forging and stamping

Able to work flexible hours and travel to customer and supplier locations in North America, Europe, and Asia, as required.
