We are in search of a Quality Engineer. The major objective of this position is to support specific Quality Engineering Functions which are essential at Product Development, Product Manufacturing and Product Quality Assurance. The individual will provide support in carrying out plant wide Quality Functions to meet customer requirements through coaching, training, guiding, directing, consulting and teaching Quality and Manufacturing personnel.
**Responsibilities**
External Support
Act as customer 24/7 contact person as assigned
Primary person of contact for customer concerns. Respond in a timely manner to all customers
Engages in onsite customer visit as needed
Gather, analyze and distribute information related to customer needs, expectations and perceptions
Leads/facilitates the problem-solving process with the manufacturing, engineering and other plant personnel
Internal / Plant support
Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality system
Provide Quality support for Process Improvement Events (PIE)
Utilize Six Sigma Statistical Problem-Solving Techniques to identify and eliminate product quality risks
Utilize quality problem solving techniques such as 8D, 7-Step, 5Why, Is/Is Not, Kaizen
Supervise hourly quality personnel
Performs scheduled audits to support plant function
Ensure proper training for quality related resources: (internal auditors, Quality Technicians, etc.)
Quality System
Leads the use of core AIAG quality tools (Control Plan, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC)
Author/distribute Quality Alerts as appropriate
Address supplier quality issues
Lead the efforts to maintain certification to IATF 16949
Act as IATF Management Representative, as required
Coordinate documentation, management reviews, internal audits and corrective actions to ensure compliance of the facilitys Quality Management System
**Qualifications**
Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline
5+ years Quality Engineering activities; automotive industry preferred
Experience in either Welding, fabrication, CNC Machining or bench assembly processes
Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles/process such as pFMEA/Control Plans
Technical knowledge of process capability, Gage and Tool Design Development
Demonstrated understanding of MSA
Preferred Qualifications
Heavy manufacturing industry experience
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
Proficient in GD&T
Experience with CMM programming and fixture design/development is added advantage
Supplier Quality
Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics; ability to read, interpret, and create programmable controller logic, pneumatic/hydraulic/electrical schematics
**Education**
+ Bachelor's Level Degree Required
