Quality Manager (Solon, Ohio)

Client in Solon, Ohio is currently hiring a Quality Manager to manage the Quality Assurance function, including the management of plant quality personnel. Maintain all facets of the quality system, respond to customer and supplier issues, and support continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis. This position is a Direct Hire.


Key Responsibilities:

Train plant personnel in basic problem-solving techniques using statistical methods.

Act as a resource to manufacturing for setting and accepting specifications

Communicate with Customers, Technology, Suppliers, and Engineering on product quality, reliability, and performance.

Optimize resources allocation and utilization


Key Position Accountabilities:

Set direction on the QA Department and manage the QA staff in the development and maintenance of effective and efficient quality systems.

Maintain the quality system to the current ISO standard, ISO 9001, ISO 13485. Ensure periodic system and process audits are developed and implemented. NADCAP accredited lab. Accredited NIAC & FDA.

Interface with Marketing and Customers to resolve concerns.

Plan and execute projects to reduce cost.


Knowledge & Skills:

Knowledge of the specialized field of expertise. Oversees execution of key cross-functional projects in support of the strategy.

Overall Understanding of business objectives and influence of department on the achievement of those objectives.

Typically, accountable for the performance of products and/or discipline within a small business unit or function.

Accountability for Revenue/Product/COGS range from $50M-$300M.

Limited cost exposure impact on functional performance.

Develops the tactical plan for the area of accountability as a reference point to execute strategy.

Provides input into attainment of strategy for area of accountability.

Identifies emerging issues relevant to the area of accountability, primarily with a focus on the short term.

Typically, accountable for development and adherence to a department budget.

May build and maintain relationships with constituents outside the Company to support business needs.

Interacts with other departments to coordinate activities.

Makes decisions using detailed analysis, integration, and constructive thinking.

Decisions are guided by set policies and procedures, business plans, resource availability, and functional objectives.

Has responsibility for making decisions and managing risks that would have little or no impact on the assets of the Company.

Provides input on decision making within the area of accountability.


Education and Work experience:

4-year secondary degree, plus advanced degree preferred.

Metallurgical Engineer preferred.

8+ years in the discipline.

3-5-year management.

Nice to have- 8D/Corrective Action, Problem Solving, Inspection and gaging & Calibration experience, Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Customer Satisfaction, Internal Auditing, PPAP, Supplier Audit, AQP.

SPC experience.

Need someone data -analytics driven (MSA exp, APQP/PPAP analysis.. the right person should know the process on the plant floor, that can plug in the instrument and read data from machines to make decisions on changes to improve quality.
