Kelly Engineering, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking a **Quality Systems Engineer** for of our Global clients facilities in **Bay City, MI.** Our client develops electronics, embedded systems, and magnetics, used in precision motor-controlled applications across multiple global industries. This is their R&D facility which houses product development and prototype product manufacturing. This role will work in prototype product manufacturing and can be either direct hire for a strong candidate or a full-time, fully benefitted contract position for a less experienced candidate. **Scope of the Quality Systems Engineer:** You will report to the Quality Manager where you will lead efforts to maintain the quality systems & certifications, and ensure all teams involved in prototype manufacturing adhere to the standards.


+ Lead activities associated with receiving & maintaining IATF16949 certification.

+ Establish systems, policies, and procedures to evaluate precision, accuracy and capability of processes, products, prototype equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.

+ Documentation standards for IATF are current and followed

+ Equipment calibration certifications are current

+ Auditing preplanning, support to different teams

+ Provide technical expertise in product development projects, design reviews, verification, validation, and manufacturability involving R&D, Product Group, Procurement, Manufacturing and other departments.

+ Review and ensure documentation standards are being met.

+ Support the maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System.

+ Schedule and perform audit activities, to include pre-audit planning, audit execution and evaluation and post-audit follow-up and recommendations.

+ Assist with development and implementation of corrective and preventive action plans to improve overall IATF/TS16949 compliance and quality results.

+ Act independently; Decision making within Company policy.

**Qualifications of the Successful Quality Systems Engineer**

**Experience & Education:**

+ Bachelors degree in engineering, Mathematics, hard sciences a plus. Candidates with 7+ years QMS maintenance and execution at this level are encouraged to apply

+ Quality systems maintenance for manufacturing required

+ 3+ years in a corporate environment of a manufacturing facility, preferred

+ Low volume manufacturing or prototyping experience a plus

+ Documentation or certification management for a regulated ISO or IATF environment is required

+ ISO or IATF audit planning required

+ Prior experience leading outside audits a plus

+ ASQ Audit certifications a plus

+ Product & component dimensioning, required

+ Lean or Six Sigma tools usage or knowledge highly preferred, any certifications a plus

+ Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), required

+ Database or ERP usage a plus

**Other Professional Abilities & Competencies:**

+ Ability to objectively review and qualify objective data

+ Ability to understand and apply statistical and business improvement tools to improve and sustain business results utilize data for trends, understand CpK, adjust limits

+ Strong organizational, practical mathematical (statistical) skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.

+ Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

+ Adaptable communication style based on audience a plus

+ Ability to communicate detailed, technical initiatives to non-technical people.

+ Must excel at working in a team environment - Proven experience successfully working with internal teams of all levels (individual contributors to directors) including engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, Quality teams from other plants etc. to ensure quality systems are adhered to.

+ Position requires frequent collaboration with all these teams

+ Less than 5% travel to manufacturing sites in AL, GA or Detroit may be required

+ Ability to conceptualize, analyze, plan, and organize projects.

+ Reasoning skills for problem identification and resolution.

+ Structured problem-solving experience such as 5 Why or 8D a plus

+ Knowledge and ability to understand and apply process audit principles (IATF16949 preferred but will consider ISO13485 or AS9100).

+ Experience in quality control program operations, to include standards & measurement techniques.

+ Ability to apply quality control theories and principles to prototype operations environment.
