Kelly Services is currently looking to hire a **R&D Mechanical Designer / Drafter** to work for one of our top Medical Device clients on-site in St. Louis, MO for a contract position.


**Description:**


The R&D Mechanical Designer / Drafter will participate in projects as a direct contributor supporting the mechanical design of cataract and vitreoretinal ophthalmic surgical equipment and disposable products. Instructions for work to be performed may be based on verbal instructions, sketches, or formal documentation. Compliance with all company standards and FDA regulations is required.


All SolidWorks tasks will utilize SolidWorks PDM Professional (EPDM) for the management of CAD data. Additionally, for the processing of Engineering releases, the candidate will employ GDMS Documentum, Aras PLM, and the maintenance of Engineering Bills of Material (BOM) utilizing ERP LX.


**Primary activities will include:**


+ The R&D Mechanical Designer / Drafter will support Manufacturing, Engineering, and Production to create and update component CAD models, assemblies, and drawings utilizing SolidWorks.

+ Other responsibilities include creating and updating technical specification sheets, labeling for prototype/production designs, manufacturing fixturing/aids, and processing engineering pre-production and production releases.


**Requirements** :


+ Familiarity with the ERP LX inventory management system to update BOMs and Item Masters is advantageous.

+ Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects concurrently.

+ A two-year technical degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience.

+ Demonstrated proficiency with SolidWorks CAE/CAD and SolidWorks PDM EPDM Data Management applications.


**Preferred:**


+ A minimum of 5 years using SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, EPDM Data Management in a product design and drafting capacity.

+ SolidWorks certification is advantageous.

+ Possess an understanding of ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.4 standards and the application of GD&T.

+ Experience with medical device design control procedures in an FDA-regulated environment.


**Important information:** This position is recruited for by a remote Kelly office, not your local Kelly branch. Applicants must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
