**R&D Technician (Food Industry)**

Kelly Scientific Resources is currently seeking an R&D Technician for one of our top major food companies located in Austin, TX.


As a R&D Technician, you will be responsible for working with Product Developers to evaluate vendor-proposed product samples for new and existing food products and consumer goods. Coordinate product cuttings and assist with Sensory Evaluation Program management.


**Main Responsibilities:**


+ Lead the cooking / preparing / presenting of samples for all cuttings; code all product samples

+ Setup and breakdown all cutting sessions; cleanup and organize test kitchen and sample storage as necessary

+ Manage and maintain all Test Kitchen Policies and Procedures for the team

+ Shop for and otherwise acquire samples from company stores and competing grocers as necessary

+ Manage receiving and storage of samples in the test kitchen, unpacking boxes and logging in samples to database

+ Manage the disposition of samples after initial cuttings and First Production approvals, storing First Production samples appropriately

+ Assist in the evaluation and finalization of product preparation and cooking instructions for Exclusive Brands products

+ Work with the Product Developers to conduct product cuttings and periodic quality reviews

+ Assist Product Developers with basic research, data analysis, sensory results and cutting results and recommendations

+ Assist with scheduling of product evaluations and invitation of participants; manage participant incentive programs

+ Assist with the evaluation of compliance specifications as they relate to vendor product samples (when necessary)

+ Assist in the development of and maintenance of Sensory Evaluation program policies and procedures

+ Assure accuracy and integrity of information by upholding WFM core values, quality and brand standards

+ Collect and route supporting technical information as necessary to support team administration

+ Work on special projects as assigned such as evaluating competitive product, and application of new processes and technologies


**Requirements and Qualifications**


+ Bachelors degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Quality Assurance or related field

+ Will have computer proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications


+ 2 years experience working in the consumer packaged goods industry

+ Understanding and experience in manufacturing processes, GMP's, general food processing, statistics and laboratory techniques is preferred

+ Product development or quality assurance experience preferred

+ Experience developing natural and organic products is a plus

+ Sensory evaluation experience and skills are a plus

+ M-F: 8am-5pm

+ Pay rate: $18-20 per hour BOE
