**Kelly is actively recruiting for a Direct Hire R&D Scientist II in Greater Oklahoma City area, OK.**


Summary

The position requires the performance of a variety of tasks including development and validation of analytical assays for pharmaceutical ingredients, stability studies, clinical/non-clinical biological samples and full compendial testing as well as managing projects. Demonstrated extensive knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, procedures, and instrumentation used in a chemistry laboratory. Provides a high level scientific analytical support, research and service to projects and clients. Performs a variety of complicated tasks as well as assisting in training of less experienced personnel. Works mostly independently and reports to the lab supervisor. Participates in meetings with scientific and business development personnel to discuss technical and operational issues including routine sample and project testing/results, SOPs and client relations. Ability to use a personal computer required, including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, email and database applications. Relies on professional experience and judgment to evaluate, select and adapt professional methods and techniques. Must demonstrate ability to effectively prioritize and plan multiple work activities with varying deadlines and complexities. This is a safety sensitive position as defined by state and federal laws that will require working with hazardous materials and/or handling medicine. As a "safety sensitive" classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.



Essential Functions

1. Development and validation of analytical methods.

2. Manage research projects and coordinate project related works between different departments of ARL.

3. Authors and implements work plans and proposals for the scope of work in projects.

4. Communication with client regarding the project/sample test status.

5. Use HPLC and other instrumentation such as IC, GC, LC-MS/MS or ELISA.

6. Ability to wear, maintain, and properly use appropriate safety equipment, including, but not limited to eye protection, gloves and lab coat.

7. Adherence to all ARL Bio Pharma safety standards, policies, procedures, and protocols Competencies

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does provide a leadership role in the department.



Work Environment

This job operates in a laboratory environment. Attendance at the office is required.

While performing the duties of the job the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or hazardous chemicals. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, and lab coat. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.



Physical Demands

This position often requires standing for prolong periods of time; dexterity in fingers and hands to perform complex and precise manipulations; ability to walk and stoop; ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs; see in the normal visual range including the ability to distinguish colors and shades and hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.



Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flexible hours such as early, late and weekend shift may be required.


Required Education and Experience

1. An AS degree in chemistry or related science with 4+ years industrial experience OR

2. A BS degree in chemistry or related science with 3+ years industrial experience OR

3. PhD degree in chemistry or related science with 1+ years industrial experience

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Bachelors degree in chemistry with 3+ years industrial experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
