**R&D Scientist**


Kelly Science and Clinical is recruiting for one qualified R&D Scientist in the Lenexa, KS area. This position is direct-hire with full benefits. This person will be responsible for LC-MS/MS method development and maintaining optimal performance of the analytical instruments and their operating systems. This person will also conduct all activities related to instrument method validation and data review with strict adherence to departmental procedures.


**Responsibilities:**


+ Performs method development and validation of assays for new or currently tested compounds in accordance with applicable SOPs and regulations for CAP and NLCP.

+ Seek opportunities to improve existing methods to improve laboratory efficiencies (e.g., reduce analysis time, reduce cost).

+ Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the theory of operation, maintenance, trouble-shooting and effective repair.

+ Provide training to new and current chemists to help expand the knowledge base of the confirmation group.

+ Train production staff on new methods on the LC-MS/MS.

+ Maintain lab reagents and supplies necessary to support method development and validation.

+ Optimize the mass spectrometer through tuning for new and currently tested compounds.

+ Develop new methods TECAN equipment as appropriate.

+ Perform pipetting of calibrators, controls, and samples accurately and reproducibly.

+ Assist in the cost evaluation of all confirmation assays.

+ Support routine production workload as necessary to ensure that client turn-around times are met.

+ Enter and submit batches to LC-MS/MS instrument for sample analysis as needed.

+ Assemble validations for review prior to acceptance of methods.

+ Perform instrument maintenance tasks as needed and complete documentation.

+ Comply with safety regulations; proper use and handling of equipment and materials to maintain a safe working environment.

+ Meet qualitative and quantitative validation goals of the department.

+ Be able to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations that would apply to this job.


**Qualifications/Education/Skills:**


+ A PhD, MS, BS, or AS degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science or high school diploma or equivalent required.

+ 3+ years of laboratory LC-MS/MS, HPLC, and SCIEX triple quadruple mass spectrometers, TECAN, and other various laboratory instrumentation experience as well as method development experience

+ Good communication skills

+ Above average computer skills

+ Strong organizational skills

+ Ability to work under time constraints

+ Detail oriented

+ Good judgment and decision making

+ Able to follow instructions precisely

+ Pipetting accuracy

+ Knowledgeable on Excel, Analyst, and MultiQuant Software

+ Reliable and timely


**Pay** : $22 25/hr and depends on experience
