Kelly Services is seeking an **R&D Technician** for our well-known client in the **Medical Device industry** in **Brooklyn Park MN.** The ideal candidate will have Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent required. Two-year technical degree preferred 5+ years engineering technical experience in a medical device development environment or 10+ years in other engineering or technical roles. **This is a 5-month contract role.**

**Job Description**



**Purpose:**




+ Design, develop and improve new and existing products to meet customer needs.

+ Develop, write run and report feasibility studies. Prototype Fabrication.

+ Order components, provide documentation, schedule and supervise fabrication of prototypes to demonstrate concept feasibility.

+ Assemble and debug prototypes.

+ Develop test procedures, protocols and related jigs and fixtures for evaluating devices.

+ Hands on evaluation of medical devices.

+ Generate ideas and solutions for new products.

+ Keep records of product evaluation tests and create reports of tests. Generate design validation and verification test results.

+ Maintain the Research and Development lab. Assist R&D engineers to create new design concepts for new products.

+ Assist the development engineers interfacing with vendors.

+ Other responsibilities: Ensure all of the equipment in the R&D lab is appropriately qualified /calibrated, Assure compliance with hazardous waste disposal policies. Interact with external vendors as needed. Perform other related tasks as requested or assigned.



**Education & Experience**




+ Associates Engineering degree preferred or equivalent. Upon manager discretion at least three years experience successfully executing a majority of the required duties listed above constitutes equivalence.

+ Bachelors degree a plus.

+ Or 9+ years experience designing test, tool assembly fixtures production process and complex electromechanical testing and assembly.

+ Medical device experience is desired



**Knowledge and Skills**




+ Strong technical writing skills.

+ Good manual dexterity and the ability to operate electromechanical measurement/test equipment and prototype tool/fixtures.

+ Ability to research, design and/or recommend electromechanical measurement/test equipment and prototype tool/fixtures.

+ Ability to create, read and properly interpret engineering drawings and take technical instruction from co-workers, supervisors and other professional personnel.

+ Ability to plan, schedule, train, recommend and direct peers and subordinate technical personnel in testing, assembly, repair and analysis of medical devices.

+ Ability to manage outside services to the lab and to coordinate equipment calibration efforts

+ Ability to model and perform simple design work in SolidWorks required.

+ Ability to perform statistical analysis and interpret data in reports.

+ Proven problem solving skills

+ Familiarity with key manufacturing processes such as plastic part design and machining metals and plastics
