Temp (role could last 3 months or longer if there is a surge in Covid patients).


Payrate 16-20 per hour depending on experience


The hours will be at least 40/week but there is the possibility to incur overtime depending on sample load and available personnel for the week. Candidate must be flexible and able to work weekends, early hours, late hours and on holidays. They need to be able to manage with a changing schedule week to week as needed. The lab is open 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Candidate may be on an 8 or 10 hrs workday schedule within those lab hours. As much as possible I try to make sure everyone has two days off in a row but not necessarily on weekends.


**Summary:**

Assists in the collection, processing, storage and shipping of human tissue and biofluids according to the Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures.


**Duties:**


+ Process blood, tissue and other biofluid samples using sterile technique in a Biosafety level 2 cabinet according to study laboratory manuals or internal SOPS.

+ Performs routine Laboratory cleaning and maintenance according to SOPS such as using appropriate cleaners to wipe bench and hood surfaces, incubators, water baths and other equipment or apparatus.

+ Monitors equipment for optimal performance, such as appropriate levels of water and disinfectants in water baths, CO2 in incubators, temperatures in incubators, freezers, etc.

+ Reports major problems with equipment to the laboratory manager.

+ Maintains proficiency in areas requiring initial certification such as IATA shipping, General Laboratory Safety, Biosafety Level II and Blood born Pathogen training, that are necessary for the performance of his/her work.

+ Should be familiar with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards and work according to these guidelines. Always works according to the Laboratory Safety policies established by company.

+ Attends Lab meetings, reads assigned literature, and occasionally makes presentations on his/her project at the request of the core manager.

+ May be required to teach techniques or otherwise assist in the training of other company laboratory personnel.

+ Performs other assignments as needed and requested by the Investigator or Laboratory Manager.

+ Flexible schedule required as early/late and/or weekend & Holiday work is involved as well as overtime.


**Qualifications** :


+ BSL2 experience working with blood, tissue and other biofuids

+ Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and perform maintenance tasks.

+ Use of statistical, analytical or presentation software related to work.

+ Knowledge of Freezerworks sample management software a plus


The ideal Research Assistant I candidate will have a bachelors degree and 1-2 years of experience in a research laboratory with human blood and biofluid processing.


The ideal Research Assistant II candidate will have a bachelors degree and 3-4 years of experience in a research laboratory with human blood and biofluid processing.
