**TITLE** : Research Associate Analytical Chemistry


**Location** : San Diego


**Compensation: 62K+**


**Shift: 8AM- 5PM**


JOB DESCRIPTION:


Kelly is seeking a highly capable and energetic analytical research associate RA or SRA for a leading metabolic engineering company in San Diego, focused on the use of gene editing tools to construct commercially valuable strains of microorganisms, to produce and deliver high-value, performance-focused and sustainably sourced ingredient to make various pharmaceutical products.


The associate will be supporting company-wide research projects in the analysis of fermentation analytes. This role will require routine execution of established protocols and the ability to work independently.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCES


+ Hands-on experience in sample preparation and analytical instrumentation HPLC/GC for the identification, quantification, and characterization of small organic molecules and metabolites/intermediates produced during microbial cell fermentation.

+ BS or MS in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific discipline 1+ years of experience in a laboratory setting, specifically working with HPLC, HPLC/MS, and GC equipment Basic maintenance of HPLC/GC equipment

+ Ability to follow written procedures and SOPs for sample preparation, data acquisition, and data analysis Good chemical hygiene when working with laboratory reagents

+ Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others


Additional Preferred Skills:


+ Operational and/or knowledge of LC-MS and GC-MS equipment methods and techniques will be a plus

+ Prior experience in an analytical lab industrial or academic working with fermentation samples small molecules or proteins or supporting strain engineering groups will be a plus

+ Greater than 2 years hands-on experience in routine maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical equipment HPLC/GC considered a huge plus either academic or industrial
