Description Seeking a Research Associate I for a 12 month assignment in Cambridge, MA.

The ideal candidate should be able to: Understand concepts relating to metabolism, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Execute the following biochemistry and molecular biology techniques independently: Protein isolation, Western blot, ELISA, RNA isolation, quantitative RT-PCR. Employ sterile technique including cell culture and/or siRNA transfections. Work with animal cells and frozen or fixed tissues, opportunity to work with live animals. Work with scientists in different disciplines and across sites and teams. Follow direction as given for a specific project or experiment. Document all experimental work in electronic laboratory notebook in a timely manner.

Preferred Skills/qualifications: BS degree in cell biology, biochemistry, physiology or other biology degree with 2+ years of laboratory experience or MS with 1+ year of laboratory experience. Previous experience in metabolism, cardiovascular disease or inflammation research is desirable. Previous animal handling experience is desirable. The qualified applicant must pay attention to detail, have the ability to multi task, be able to take direction and work within a team setting. Excellent oral and written communication skills. High scientific rigor and integrity. Aptitude with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and GraphPad Prism. Strong scientific curiosity with a passion for problem-solving and optimization.
