Description **Seeking a Research Associate-III for a 7 month assignment in San Francisco, CA.**

Responsibility:This is a hands-on chemistry position. The incumbent will be a bench chemist, performing chemical synthesis, analysis and structural assignments using spectroscopic techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, UV, and NMR, and purification of organic compounds by flash column chromatography or on HPLC. As an additional responsibility, the incumbent will manage database compounds inventory, including registration of new compounds, submission of compounds for biological testing, and arrangement of compounds shipment. Organize and prioritize workload to meet timelines. Communicate results, ideas and proposals informally and at meetings. Work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment to achieve project goals.

Qualifications:A Bachelor degree in chemistry with 3-6 years of chemical synthesis experience or a Master degree in organic chemistry with 1-3 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry is required. Working knowledge of common spectroscopic techniques such as NMR, IR, UV, and MS as well as prior experience in use of HPLC and LC-MS is required. Familiarity with chemistry software such as ChemDraw and SciFinder and/or Reaxys is necessary. Prior experience in use of chemistry database is preferred. Good oral and written communication skills are required. The incumbent is expected to be well organized and detail oriented. Experience in synthesis of nucleosides and nucleotides is preferred, but not required.
