**Research Associate III - Pathobiology**

**Responsibilities:**


+ Developing and executing tissue-based assays including but not limited to optimization of immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, as well as subsequent digital image analysis of the prepared tissue samples.
+ Tissue processing, sectioning of FFPE and frozen tissues, optimization and/or validation of reagents, automated IHC staining, and digital image analysis.
+ Image analysis software is beneficial but not required.
+ Plan and execute assigned experiments employing a variety of laboratory methods and techniques that support research activities in Pathobiology.
+ Preparing tissue and cell samples, operating scientific equipment, evaluating and optimizing analysis parameters, conducting digital image analysis, analyzing data and presenting related reports, and participating in group meetings.
+ Optimizing a variety of tissue-based assays, particularly IHC, will be a key responsibility, requiring the ability to recognize and troubleshoot anomalous and inconsistent results and interpret experimental outcomes.
+ Recommending alternatives, including researching new methods and techniques, as well as proactively seeking out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems will be necessary.
+ Consequently, good verbal communication and interpersonal skills will be required to provide insight into the processes used to achieve results of assigned tasks.
+ Bachelor s Degree with a solid foundation in biology and a minimum of 3 years laboratory research experience.
+ Experience with handling, processing, sectioning, and staining human and/or animal tissues is required.
+ Laboratory experience developing, optimizing, and running immune histochemical assays is also necessary.
+ Experience with immunofluorescence, especially multiplex assays is preferred. Familiarity with statistical programs e.g. GraphPad Prism, Spotfire preferred.
+ Knowledge of morphometric image analysis e.g. ImageJ, HALO, Definiens, or Visiopharm or computer programming especially R, Python, or MATLAB is beneficial.
