**Research Associate High-throughput Screening, San Diego, CA**

We are seeking a Research Associate - High-throughput Screening who can help us to revolutionize plant breeding using our unique, patented RTDS gene editing technology to produce sustainable industrial and agricultural products and improve human health by safely harnessing Nature's own genetic diversity. The position requires a B.Sc. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field with 0+ years of experience or an AA/HS diploma with 2+ years of experience.

**Position Type:** Long-term contract

**Pay Rate:** $20/hr

The successful applicant will help to run an automated screening platform supporting companys patented gene editing technology. This position will work as part of a team and be expected to independently run all aspects of the screening workflow including operation of a liquid handling system for DNA extraction and automated genotyping.

**Responsibilities will involve:**

+ Sample preparation / reagent preparation

+ Initiating PCR / qPCR reactions

+ Running the liquid handling platform

+ Perform data analysis and data reporting.

+ Other duties as required.

**Job Requirements:**

+ Prior experience running automated liquid handlers is essential

+ Theoretical and practical experience with a range of PCR, qPCR, and dPCR Genotyping Protocols such as TaqMan and KASP assays.

+ Hands on experience with DNA extraction and other general Molecular Biology Protocols

+ An understanding of NGS Target Amplicon Resequencing protocols is beneficial

+ Strong problem solving skills and capabilities to identify process gaps and improve process efficiency

+ Excellent sample and data tracking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to record experimental procedures in a clear, accurate manner

+ Able to follow Standard Operating Procedures

+ Highly proficient in Excel and MS Office suite.

+ Effectively communicates with supervisor through meetings and report writing

+ Ability to be independent, self-motivated, and enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment

+ An understanding of molecular breeding and marker assisted selection is beneficial.
