**Research Associate, Cell Culture Process Development**




**Job Description:**



Kelly Services is currently seeking a Research Associate for one of our top biotech clients. As a member of the Process Development team the candidate will work hands on with cell culture and other development scientists as well as fermentation engineers to develop and optimize CHO cell culture processes for the industrial production of antibodies.



Work on cell culture process scale up issues from Ambr-15 reactors to the bench scale (1L) to pilot scale (14L) and beyond.



Preparation work for running CHO cell cultures in bioreactors includes bioreactor setup, sterilization and disassembly, preparation of media, feeds and nutrient additives.



Various process parameters such as feed protocol and temperatures at which the fermentation is carried out are examined.



Experiments are designed to resolve process scale up issues.This position requires a high degree of technical skill and attention to detail, a strong background in science and mathematics, and excellent communication skills.



**Additional Job Duties:**




+ Maintain and expand seed cultures, prepare frozen research cell banks. Participate in cell line stability studies.

+ Prepare cell culture media, feeds and other process solutions.

+ Conduct experiments using shake flasks and the Ambr-15 automated bioreactor system.

+ Present status of experiments, results and plans to scientific staff

+ Other duties include but are not limited to ordering supplies, equipment maintenance, programing and running two Ambr-15 instruments, set up and take down of 1L/ 14L bioreactors, sanitization and autoclaving etc.

+ Ability to present project updates at biweekly project team meetings



**Requirements:**




+ Bachelors degree in biological science or related field with minimum 1+ year relevant industry experience in cell culture/process development.

+ Working knowledge of cell culture.
