Temp to Perm Opportunity! Immediate need!

Full Time (40 hours a week), Monday-Friday, Daytime Hours

Pay Rate is $27 to $30/hour, depending on Education and Experience

**Job Summary**

This Research Associate level position who will support the Cell and Animal models group to develop tools to help understand the mechanisms of neurodegenerative disease transmission, and in the production of new transgenic rodent models in which to test potential therapeutics. The position will be responsible for generating cells expressing human neurodegenerative disease-associated proteins with various mutations, and in cloning constructs for the creation of transgenic mice and rats. The role requires working with infectious mammalian prions in a laboratory setting under biosafety level (BSL) 2. All appropriate training will be provided. The candidate must be highly motivated, have strong, numerical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

**Key Responsibilities:**

30% Molecular biology: cloning, mutagenesis, PCR

30% Cell culture and transfection

20% Biochemistry: cell lysis, tissue homogenization, Western blotting

20% Data analysis, organization and reporting

**Required Qualifications:**


+ B.S. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related subject.
+ Thorough knowledge of Molecular Biology techniques including in-fusion plasmid cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, and transfection of cells.
+ Knowledge of DNA sequence analysis and vector editing software and experience in interpreting DNA chromatograms
+ Experience in cell biology and protein biochemical methods: mammalian cell culture, SDS-PAGE, western blot analysis, and ELISA.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Computer literacy on both Macintosh and PC, MS-Office suite and basic statistical analysis.
**Preferred Qualifications:**


+ Experience in working at BSL 2 lab
