We seek a highly motivated, productive, and organized research associate to provide temporary support for multiple in vitro and in vivo assays in the Neuroscience Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting ongoing work of the lab by performing various molecular biology techniques, in vitro cell culture, tissue harvest/processing, histology, and imaging of tissue from mouse models of neurodegenerative disease. The candidate will also help to maintain general lab upkeep. This is a hands-on laboratory position with abundant opportunity for developing bench research skills and collaboration with other researchers in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment.



Skills:




+ Experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, immunostaining and mammalian cell culture.

+ Some training or experience in neuroscience or glial biology would be ideal.

+ Experience handling neonatal and adult mice is welcome but not required.

+ Adherence to animal protocols and compliance with basic ethical and regulatory requirements for animal handling are critically important.

+ Additional experience in primary cell culture, processing CNS tissue for various assays tissue homogenization or sectioning , immunohistochemistry, and microscopy imaging experience is a plus.

+ In addition, the candidate should be meticulously organized with outstanding time management skills, a proactive attitude, and passion for high-quality, translational science.



Education:




+ B.S./B.A. degree in relevant field Neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, biotechnology with at least 2 years lab experience, or M.S. with no industry experience.
