**Research Histology Technician Everett, WA**


The Research Histology Technician prepares quality tissue samples for histopathologic evaluation for clinical research; they must have knowledge of the use and maintenance of equipment used for the preparation of tissue samples and the ability to maintain a clean and orderly laboratory.

+ Either Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs

**Responsibilities:**


+ Maintains and document the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

+ Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly laboratory environment.

+ Performs paraffin tissue processing.

+ Identifies required tissue sample orientation and performs paraffin embedding procedures.

+ Uses microtomy skills in the preparation of routine (paraffin embedded) microscopic slidesaccording to standard operating procedures and/or required by study protocols.

+ Performs routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining as well as cover slipping microscopicslides.

+ Troubleshoots equipment and/or operation failures and takes appropriate actions to keepinterruptions to a minimum.

+ Analyzes raw data collection and solves for deviation in standard operating procedures(SOP) and/or protocol requirements.

+ Disposition of hazardous chemical, generation of the hazardous chemical lab pack and dataentry to the laboratory hazardous chemical records.

+ Ordering of warehouse supplies and data entry to laboratory inventory records may beassigned.

+ Additional training pertaining to special necropsy procedures may be required and assigned.

+ Additional training pertaining to tissue trimming and bone decalcification may be requiredand assigned.

+ Additional training to reagent preparation may be assigned.


**Requirements:**


+ Preferred: Associate degree (AA), in a scientific discipline.

+ Preferred: least 1+ years laboratory experience.


Working Conditions:

Hazardous Materials - Handles and disposes biological and/or chemical substances and wastes

in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

Personal Protective Equipment - Wears appropriate PPE in accordance with policies and

procedures. PPE may include, but is not limited to: N-95 respirator, face mask, safety glasses,

goggles, face shield, gloves, and lab coat.

Availability - Holiday/Weekend/Evening

Work Hours - Ability to work overtime with notice, holiday, weekend, and evening hours as needed
