**Research Scientist assay development and protein purification (direct hire)**


Kelly Services is seeking an enthusiastic Research Scientist to work within a fast-paced environment of an exciting company focused on developing innovative technology for biomedical diagnostics and drug development. This is a direct hire role in Woburn, MA.


**Overview:** Our clients cutting-edge technology will enable new frontiers of medical research for ultra-high sensitivity detection of single molecules in low volume liquid biopsy samples. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to bring a disruptive technology to market; playing a key role in a multidisciplinary team. This position will work with several Senior Scientists to develop and test new protein assays on our core technology platform. Successful candidates must have solid knowledge with modern immunoassay design and optimization, recombinant proteins, protein purification, protein labeling and protein modification strategies.


**Responsibilities:**

Development of immunoassays for biofluids and cell-based samples.

Optimization of traditional and novel assay parameters to improve sensitivity, specificity, and throughput of detection.

Development of robust immunoassay protocols.

Collaboration with physicists, chemists, engineers and bioinformaticians.

Creation of documents for new protocols, designs, and IP filings.


**General Qualifications:**

Creative, hardworking, and organized. Must also show a track record of innovative problem solving in technical environments.

Bachelors degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology or related disciplines.

2+ years of hands-on experience in biology assay development, in-depth experience in immunoassays including ELISA, western blot, dot blot, bead-based assays, fluorescent assays and label-free assays required

2+ years of hands-on experience in protein purification and protein labeling techniques, solid knowledge in antibody technologies required

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Previous research experience in the field of immunology

Experience with protein microarrays

Experience in using miniature devices (including lab-on-a-chip systems) to perform assays

Experience in microscopy

Experience with laboratory automation including liquid handling, plate readers, plate washers, and incubators
