Kelly Services is hiring for a Wine Shop Assistant for one of our top clients, E & J Gallo Winery in Modesto, CA.

This is a temporary to consider permanent position. Applicants must meet all minimum expectations in order to be considered. This person would work Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm and Saturday 8:45 am- 1:15 pm. Temporary assignment estimated length based off workload, estimated to be 3 months with possible extension.


Under general supervision, provides exceptional customer service while meeting sales

goals. Receives product for inventory, maintains inventory, and sells wine and related

merchandise carried in the Gallo Family Wine Shop.


- High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.

- 21 years of age

- 1 year of experience, Retail Sales, Customer Service, Hospitality, or Merchandising.

- Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

- Skilled in writing simple correspondence.

- Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.

- Required to lift and move up to 50 lbs. frequently.

- Required to learn the JDE system and WMS system as it pertains to inventory ordering and management.

- Skilled in the use of 10-key by touch (numeric data entry) at a basic level.

- Required to work weekends and overtime when requested.

- Ability to use technology applicable to the position and access information to complete daily assignments.


- Provides exceptional customer service by greeting customers and establishing a rapport

providing the guest with product knowledge.

- Proactively answers customer and vendor questions per procedures and policy

in a friendly and courteous manner.

- Provides guests with recommendations on selections using product knowledge for

items they are interested in.

- Willingness to learn and understand product portfolio to provide customers

information about products they have inquiries about.

- Participates and attends wine training sessions.

- Provides improvement ideas to manager to improve operational effectiveness.

- Performs wine and merchandise inventory to include stock rotation and labeling;

ensures displays are kept in a neat and orderly fashion and that products have

proper signage.

- Enters required data into the computer system to track participant eligibility and store


- Performs inventory control functions to ensure physical inventory and location match

the computer inventory.

- Stocks sales floor with inventory from warehouse and rotates product on shelves.

- Maintains a clean store by participating in cleaning, keeping sales floor stocked, back

room organized, break room and other surrounding areas tidy.

- Reviews pricing labels are current and accurate while putting out new product.

- Builds product displays to help promote sales.

- Ensures assigned row of shelves are clean and in an organized and logical order.

- Checks for damaged items and reports damages to management team.

- Processes transfer shipments and orders to/from other Gallo-owned facilities.

- Performs safety checks on equipment and maintains safe conditions within the store.

- Inspects product and merchandise for return to stock or disposal.

- Prepares computer reports, completes various logs, removes obsolete items from

stock and properly identifies out-of-stock merchandise.

- Signs for products delivered by outside carriers and notifies management for


- Processes customer payments; processes outside location orders.

- Required to help with opening and closing of store as a key holder.

- Required to drive a fork lift to remove product from trucks and movement of product

in warehouse.

- Participates in inventory cycle counting; correctly and accurate counts inventory and

reports any discrepancies to management for adjustment processing.

- Follows company policies and procedures, while complying with standards for the

store and associate appearance at all times.

- Works as a team player to reach sales goals.

- Provides support to fellow team members.

- Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

- Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental

and safety regulatory considerations.

- Bachelor-s Degree.

- WSE, Sommelier or other industry certification preferred.

- Wine and Liquor Sales in a retail sales environment.

- Prior experience in retail, receiving stocks, inventory control or other related areas.

- Cash register experience.

- Excellent customer service skills and enjoy helping people.

- Skilled in using office equipment such as personal computer and mainframe computer

terminal, inventory trackers, 10 key and calculators.

- Skilled in using and operating store equipment such as push carts, ladders, pallet

jacks, and fork lift experience.

- Experience using the JDE system and WMS system as it pertains to inventory

ordering and management.

- Experience building point-of-sales displays.

- Demonstrates strong verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills.

- Experience with working independently with minimal supervision and making sound

decisions as needed.

- Skilled in performing detail oriented work and recognizing and correcting
