My client is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of opto-electronic sensors and systems for industrial and medical applications. **SUMMARY**

The Application Support Engineer provides product and application support to our customers, salespeople and channel partners via phone, email or in person. This position requires both technical aptitude and good interpersonal skills. She/he must also strive to continually innovate in order to ensure the Application Support Engineer is offering the highest level of “Smarter Customer Service”.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**


+ Provide safety product and application support to assist with correct product selection and smooth integration. This may include “proof of concept” testing and/or detailed application profiles.
+ Assist customers with trouble-shooting problems on the phone and in the field.
+ Use the Ticket system in CRM to document customer related activities.
+ Assist in developing and maintaining value-added solutions with both client and third party products.
+ Assist in the development and presentation of training materials and collateral for salespeople, channel partners, and customers.
+ Provide technical assistance for the development of trade show product and application displays.
+ Grow product knowledge by attending seminars, technical training at headquarters, and by self-training to become a recognized expert in assigned products.
+ Grow product application knowledge in focus industries (Packaging, Intralogistics, Machine Tool, and Laboratory Automation).
+ Monitor product and application trends and provide feedback to Product Marketing and the appropriate Product Centers.

+ Maintain a valid US Passport and the ability to travel internationally.
+ This position requires travel to customer and prospect sites in North America up to 25%, and company locations outside of the US.
+ Other projects and duties as assigned by Management.
**SKILLS REQUIREMENTS**


+ Diagnostic and analytical skills utilizing oscilloscopes, digital volt meters and other electronic testing equipment.
+ Verify system performance by completing operational tests.
+ Competent in testing in accordance with established procedures.
+ Excellent communication skills.
+ Persistent and creative problem solver.
+ Ability to effectively present technical topics to groups in a selling or training environment.
+ Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical people.
+ Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a group to sell and support our products.
+ Good time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
+ Display genuine commitment and adaptability to changing situations.
+ Committed to continuous learning through self-training and formal training classes.
**EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**


+ 3+ years in machine safety and safety devices (i.e. safety light curtains, laser scanner, relays, safety controllers, etc.)
+ Knowledgeable about industrial control technologies like PLCs, sensors, and machine safety.
+ PLC and/or PC programming experience is a plus.
+ Application support or sales/service experience in industrial sector is a plus
+ Minimum AS technical degree or equivalent engineering experience.
