Responsibilities of a Scheduler/Planner:

  • Apply Good Manufacturing Principles in all areas of responsibility.
  • This position would have the primary responsibility for scheduling of jobs using existing and/or improved tools.
    • Update schedule with new or revised information (add / remove / revise Job Steps)
    • Maintain accurate room assignments for a minimum 3-day window
    • Prepare daily schedule for work to be performed according to shift
    • Assist in managing projects to completion according to prescribed schedules and assist cross-functional teams / departments in resolving issues related to the schedule
  • Perform daily schedule reviews to ensure the core information is complete and accurate including:Planning & Resource Management
    • Job Start and Completion dates
    • Number of shifts required to run
    • Equipment requirements
    • Labor requirements
    • Communicate Staging requirements. Identify jobs to start within 2 days that are not fully staged.
    • Compile and communicate daily job/room status, including confirmation that all jobs are running and/or ran as planned
    • Report any deviations, and associated causes, from the schedule
    • Confirm jobs anticipated to complete on 1st and 2nd shift with Production Supervisors
    • Review overnight updates and quickly follow-up as appropriate to resolve any issues causing a job to go on hold
    • Know the status of CAPAs, Change Orders, Deviations, and general issues preventing jobs from starting/completing and work towards expedited resolution
    • Ensure contingency plans are in place for critical jobs and manage exceptions and rework to avoid impact to the schedule
    • Prepare comprehensive list of agenda items for Daily Production Meeting
    • Work closely with cross-functional partners to establish accurate timelines
    • Influence and negotiate to ensure commitments are achieved
    • Ensure the accuracy and current status of the Schedule (MS Access) &Tracking Sheet
  • Prioritize work with appropriate teams to ensure deliverables
  • Challenge questionable due dates
  • Collectively negotiate/establish achievable dates
  • Build appropriate contingency plans to ensure commitments are met
  • Provide clear and timely communication on "misses"
  • Monitor capacity utilizing other Fisher locations, as needed to fulfill customer requirements
  • Gauge labor resource needs and communicates anticipated or sudden changes in a timely manner
  • Identify and communicate temporary and full time resource needs, including OT based upon production needs and labor availability
  • Monitor equipment usage. Identify and communicate unresolved conflicts as they arise to the appropriate department personnel
  • Evaluate existing Scheduling tools. Recommend changes and/or upgrades, as appropriate
  • Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) Analysis daily/weekly/monthly
  • Maintain the KPI tracking file, update and improve as necessary to meet business needs
  • Escalate KPIs trending poorly as they arise to the appropriate department personnel
  • Create graphs/presentations as needed
  • Backlog
  • Manage MP’s revenue projection weekly; ensure alignment with Schedule; partner with billing staff to ensure Backlog is accurate
  • SalesForce
  • Update revenue projections at least weekly, ensuring alignment with Schedule, billing, and any Backlog updates


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Extremely proficient in MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Project.
  • Ability to obtain clearance to access TSA-screening area; cleared by federal background check
  • At least 5 years of experience in scheduling / Production Control within a large scale operation.
  • Experience using an automated scheduling system.
  • Self-starter and be able to conform to shifting priorities, timelines and in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment. Must display Role Model Leadership.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational competencies.
  • Task and detail oriented
  • Self-disciplined at managing tasks needing to be completed on a timeline
  • Independent problem solver.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S./B.F.A.) from a four year college or university
  • 5 years in food or pharmaceutical packaging.
