We are currently seeking a **Scientific Communications Editor** to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in **Bethesda, MD.**



**OVERVIEW.** This is a long-term, open-ended contract position which offers:

**TASKS/SERVICES.** The contractor shall:




+ Research relevant regulatory requirements and other governmental policies and guidelines to ensure accuracy and adherence to applicable regulations.

+ Prepare documents, including policies, procedures, guidelines, position descriptions and other documents; proofread and edit documents for grammar, spelling and alignment with formats consistent with Clinical Center (CC) templates and/or guidance; ensure that there are no factual or typographical errors.

+ Collect, synthesize and collate materials from stakeholders.

+ Copy, edit, proofread and prepare all drafts and final versions of documents.

+ Work with staff to obtain appropriate document clearance(s) and approvals.

+ Maintain document version control; maintain files of all edited materials for final review.

+ Ensure appropriate records management; transfer all files and documents to the CC.

+ Ensure that documents are delivered in 508 compliant formats.

+ Develop, update and maintain spreadsheets to analyze and summarize information; coordinate actions; ensure that deadlines are met; provide follow through.

+ Create summaries and reports based on information provided.

+ Manage assigned tasks and deadlines; monitor project status; review deliverables; provide status updates.

+ Establish and implement a system for organizing, monitoring and tracking activities and projects; participate in planning activities.

+ Record minutes for meetings, including Participants, Decisions, Action Items and Key Highlights/Discussion points.

+ Meet with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders.

+ Collate feedback and prepare final documents for review and implementation.

+ Break down extensive processes into phases so that they may be used to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines.

+ Address the developmental stages of teams (e.g., forming, norming, performing, adjourning); manage group dynamics through each stage.

+ Work with staff to gather information to write and edit major reports; develop periodic and special reports; present reports to management for review.

+ Analyze program performance to identify issues and develop recommendations for improvement; draft and edit standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for implementation of programmatic and administrative activities.

+ Recommend changes to forms, documents, policies, etc., to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of resources and operations.

+ Coordinate, analyze and maintain systems for communication among staff to facilitate the efficient flow of information relating to projects and program activities.





**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:




+ Master's degree in a related discipline; two (2) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor's degree is equivalent to a Master's degree.

+ Minimum of four (4) years of related experience in a health care or hospital setting.

+ Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

+ Demonstrated ability to follow plain language guidelines as outlined under Clear Communications: An NIH Health Literacy Initiative.

+ Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
