We are seeking an individual to work as a Project Manager Scientific Reviewer at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.




This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:

1.Independently organize, analyze and write reports in assigned scientific area; read, in-terpret, analyze and condense materials from a variety of sources, including electronic and hard copy, for presentation; assimilate date to prepare presentation material such as tables, graphs, slides and overheads.

2.Make presentations of data at staff meetings and/or conference calls.

3.Request information from and provide e-mail, phone and written responses to principal investigators, intramural staff and others on scientific and programmatic issues; prepare progress report and identify potential areas of concern in progress report data and pro-pose means of making improvements or finding solutions.

4.Locate scientific, program and related information on the internet, and other means, in-cluding literature and database searches; conduct search for material for specific pro-grammatic need, using databases.

5.Track action items and tasks provide reminders of deadlines to staff, and maintain spreadsheets of relevant information.

6.Plan the schedule of bi-weekly branch meeting seminar; book the conference rooms; prepare work orders to set up seminar sitting and visual media requests.

7.Participate in numerous meetings; take adequate and comprehensible notes on these meetings as requested.

8.Perform logistical planning for scientific meetings, symposia, lecture and workshops; work with staff to ensure proper handling of meeting details.

9.Prepare requests to obtain HHS approval for staff to attend and present data in domestic and international conferences.

10.Prepare the requests to obtain NIH approval for principle investigators of the branch to give invited lectures at extramural institutes and universities.

11.Prepare and process travel orders, authorizations.

12.Serve as a source of information regarding the NIDA programs.

13.Perform initial organization and editing of the content of meeting invitations and re-ports, of program announcements, of policy statements.

14.Prepare and process personnel packages for IRTAs, Visiting Fellows, Summer Students in the Fellowship Payment System.

15.Coordinate with outside institutes/universities, NIDA animal program, and the courier for animal importation and its shipping arrangement.

16.Process animal requests and place orders for supplies and chemicals; track budget and deliverables including invoices and packaging slips

17.Ensure ordered supplies and chemicals are delivered to requestor and assist in following up on delayed or delinquent orders.

18.Create the yearly spending plan of the budgets for Principle Investigator in the branch.

19.Serve as proxy manager for the Principle Investigators to manage the virus registrations in HealthRx system.

20.Coordinate, track and file Material Transfer Agreements associated with PIs in the branch. Organize IRP-wide scientific symposiums and workshops that include US and international speakers.




REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

1.Masters degree in Biology, Life Sciences or a related discipline; three (3) years of spe-cialized experience plus a Bachelors degree is equivalent to a Masters degree.

2.Minimum of three (3) years of experience in research environment.

3.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

4.Background in biology, genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, neuroscience, evo-lution, genetic epidemiology and/or relate field.

5.Skill in data analysis, preparation of spreadsheets and computer applications.

6.Ability to produce graphical and tabular representations of complex data for presenta-tion and use by staff.

7.Ability to adapt and create analytical tools to be used in evaluating data for its relevancy in recommending the issuance or renewal of grants and contracts.

8.Written and verbal communication skills to interact substantively with staff, scientists and government officials to provide information that affects current and long range ac-tivities of the Institute.

9.Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

10.Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
