We are seeking an individual to work as Scientific Program Manager (Cancer Surveillance) at the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, MD.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:

(1) Apply expertise in project management and communications related to support of the National Childhood Cancer Registry, with particular focus on the work related to the development of a virtual biorepository.

(2) Draft and edit reports or other summaries to document project developments and conclusions.

(3) Work with other collaborators in Surveillance Research Program (SRP) to develop linkages for acquisition of genomic data from specialized clinical laboratories. In particular, developing any agreements, monitoring progress, supporting linkages and assisting in the quality assessment of data once the linkages are completed.

(4) Provide planning, coordination, data analysis and report writing for the Quality Assessment and Control Activities of the Data Quality, Analysis, and Interpretation Branch (DQAIB) and coordinate with other SRP projects.

(5) Apply expertise in project management and communications to problems of interest to the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS), including facilitation of the Virtual Tissue Repository (VTR) with internal and external stakeholders such as the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Registries; ensure VTR team hits major project milestones in a timely manner; coordinate/organize project meetings to develop VTR plans and strategies.

(6) Work with staff on organizing and participating in symposia and discussions with national and international scientific leaders.

(7) Plan, organize and participate in technical meetings and consultations that convene diverse experts to advance key issues in scientific research.

(8) Provide advice and assistance to NCI/NIH funded researchers, NCI/NIH staff and other researchers in the federal and private sector in relation to evaluation of specialized and clinical datasets released by SRP/DCCPS/NCI programs.

(9) Collaborate with researchers both within and outside NCI on epidemiologically and surveillance-based studies of interest to the NCI.

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor ideally would have:

(1) Masters degree or Ph.D. in Biology, Life Sciences or other related

(2) Minimum of three (3) cumulative experience in cancer research

(3) Experience with cancer surveillance data and operations, advanced cancer research methods and strategies, interpreting cancer patterns and trends, and interpreting results of cancer genomic tests and computational genomic analysis.

(4) Experience with writing and editing project documents, reporting research findings, and IRB submissions

(5) Excellent project management skills, including coordinating via email, calendars, WebEx, and in person.
