We are currently seeking a Scientific Writer to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

**TASKS.** The contractor shall:




+ Provide health and science policy writing and editing for the Office of Communications and Public Liaisons various public-facing forums.

+ Write engaging, broadly accessible promotional content for senior NCI leadership. Content will include general messaging in support of; various highly visible public events; reports from meetings; news about major NCI priorities and initiatives; and other types of content.

+ Content may take a variety of forms, including talking points, prepared remarks, Power Point slides, blog posts, social media postings, external op-eds, web content, and internal talking points.

+ Obtain content, division, and OD clearances as needed.

+ Provide writing and editing support for major NCI reports and projects, such as the NCI Annual Plan.





**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:




+ Ph.D. in a science related field. Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Masters Degree is equivalent to a Ph.D. Five (5) years of specialized experience plus a BA/BS degree is equivalent to a Ph.D. Minimum three (3) years of experience in a related field.

+ Minimum of four (4) years experience in related field.

+ Demonstrated experience writing about health and science policy for senior level executives, print or online publications directed to a broad audience.

+ Strong health and science policy background, including an understanding of technical scientific terms and concepts

+ Experience communicating complex technical ideas to a general audience and translating scientific language into plain language.

+ Experience writing about cancer and public health/health policy issues.

+ Strong critical thinking and communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to work independently with limited oversight.
