**Job Title: Scientist**





**Pay: $42 per hour**





**Position Summary** :




+ Will apply technical knowledge to develop kits/reagents/instruments/workflows for nucleic acid purification from various biological sample types

+ Modify experimental procedures to suit the particular needs of experiments

+ Develop a hypothesis and then design the necessary set of experiments to test the hypothesis with limited guidance

+ Analyze the data derived and explain the outcome of their experiments

+ Maintain accurate and detailed lab notebooks and appropriate documentation based on the scientific method enabling other scientists to reproduce their experiments

+ May assist in preparing material for manuals, patents, application notes, scientific publications

+ Prepares regular reports documenting experiments

+ Presents research data and conclusions in 10-30 minute sessions

+ Ability to read a scientific paper, reproduce the experiments described, understand the results and draw conclusions

+ Complete lab compliance activities



Skills and attributes:



**Candidates with experience that includes major developments and contributions are encouraged to apply.**




+ Strong laboratory and technical hands on skills required:

+ Pipet and perform procedures reproducibly

+ Perform a dilution series to create a standard curve

+ Perform lab calculations needed to make solutions from powder or from stock solutions and able to make the buffers from recipes

+ Operate basic lab equipment such as computers, centrifuges, vacuum pumps

+ Routine experience with most common molecular procedures such as nucleic acid isolation, endpoint PCR, real-time PCR, Nanodrop, Qubit, plate readers

+ Experience in an IVD development environment

+ Experience writing and implementing quality focused procedures

+ Experience in a clinical setting or CLIA certified laboratory

+ Experience with various procedures for nucleic acid purification, in the manual format and automated

+ Experience working with clinical samples in BSL2 lab setting

+ Experience with development of tests for infectious diseases or cancer

+ Strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet programs, powerpoint, and statistical analysis.

+ Creative and innovative

+ Good writing & presentation skills

+ Strong documentation and strong organizational skills

+ Works well in a team setting

+ Capable of multi-tasking and ensure timely completion and execution of tasks

+ Pays attention to details

+ Be agile with changing environments

+ Shows initiative by taking on new tasks, beyond what is generally expected

+ Inspires and coordinates people to achieve specific goals

+ Generates ideas to improve current processes




**Requirements:**



Bachelors or Masters degree in Biological Science, chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, infectious diseases or related field.



PhD is a plus.



At least 3 years laboratory experience in an industry setting in a product development environment or clinical lab setting with a regulated background experience.
