We are currently seeking a Scientist with immunology expertise to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

**TASKS.** The contractor shall:




+ Investigate T cell receptors that target tumor antigens.

+ Investigate novel methods of discovery of T cell receptors that target tumor antigens.

+ Investigate techniques for the avidity maturation of T cell receptors.

+ Investigate the use of HLA transgenic mice to generate T cell receptors.

+ Perform single cell cloning experiments to identify individual T cell receptors.

+ Perform flow cytometry to analyze T cells that express T cells receptors that target tumor antigens.

+ Clone T cell receptor gene sequences into expression vectors.

+ Make retrogenic mice with retrovirus-mediated transduction of purified bone marrow stem cells.

+ Perform cell separation techniques to isolate T cells with T cell receptors that target tumor antigens.

+ Perform experiments to characterize genetically engineered T cell phenotype and function including cytokine production assays, cytolysis assays, flow cytometry assays, specificity assays, and _in vivo_ testing in murine models.

+ Collaborate with laboratory scientists and participate in the planning of experiments aimed at the discovery of T cell receptors that target tumor antigens.

+ Collaborate with laboratory scientists and participate in the generation of novel mouse strains to be used in experiments.

+ Provide training to postdoctoral fellows and other laboratory members in techniques for T cell receptor generation and testing.

+ Perform scientific programming and experimental design.

+ Develop, modify and introduce new techniques to the laboratory that expedite the mission of the Branch.

+ Collaborate with PIs at discussions regarding research progress and future plans.

+ Work with staff on animal colony management.

+ Perform 5RACE and T cell receptor sequencing techniques.

+ Perform multiparametric flow cytometry to characterize gene engineered T cells.

+ Record and interpret experimental research data.

+ Review and discuss experimental research results.

+ Evaluate results and prepare summaries for discussion with supervisor for use in scientific reports and publications.

+ Generate figures suitable for publication, perform statistical analysis; work with staff on techniques required to generate figures suitable for journal submission.

+ Maintain a bibliographic reference database and work with the Branch Chief in reference management for publications.

+ Provide training to staff in the performance of specialized procedures, techniques, etc.

+ Write and review documentation, including seminars, reports and presentations.

+ Present experimental results at scientific meetings.

+ Maintain an inventory system for plasmids and primers used in cloning and genotyping.



**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:




+ Ph.D. degree in Biology or a related discipline; three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Masters degree is equivalent to a Ph.D.

+ Minimum of four (4) years of experience in immunology research.

+ Expertise in immunology and immune assays.

+ Minimum of one (1) first-author publication in an internationally recognized scientific journal.




+ Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
