We are currently seeking a Scientist with Clinical Genetics Research experience to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

TASKS: The contractor shall:

+ Analyze and interpret genetic variants, assess their clinical relevance, help establish phenotype-genotype links, review a large spectrum of genetic immune disorders and related phenotypes, generate or review clinical test reports and communicate with referring research teams.

+ Contribute to ongoing development and implementation of processes to protect sample and data integrity, processes for monitoring and managing analysis and interpretation work, and optimal reporting and data sharing plans.

+ Participate in ongoing clinical quality control, making suggestions for how to best integrate and execute genetic services in NIAID.

+ Establish productive consultations and collaborations with relevant experts.

+ Oversee working group on challenging cases.

+ Train new personnel, help streamline tasks and distribution of responsibilities among team members.

+ Coordinate with the protocol team and assure that all procedures are being carried out per protocol.

+ Contribute to the design, methodology, implementation, and regulatory review of protocols as assigned.

+ Exercise advanced judgment as it pertains to sensitive genetic testing considerations, as well as strategic planning, time management and communication.

+ Present formal presentations on this initiative and related projects at internal NIAID conferences and/or at national/international scholarly meetings.

+ Serve as a liaison with genetics societies, other institutions, and other non-governmental agencies interested in immune diseases and/or genetics, as requested by the task leader.

+ Contribute to evaluation of the potential impact of legislation, papers, reports, and other emerging issues on current and planned genetic activities and recommends appropriate action.

REQUIREMENTS: The contractor must have:

+ M.D. or Ph.D. degree in related field.

+ Certified or eligible for certification by ABMG in Clinical Molecular Diagnostics.

+ Must be able to be credentialed by the NIH Clinical Center.

+ Knowledge pertaining to privacy of the patient, privileged information and secure handling of the patients medical records. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

+ Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
