Description **Scientist - 60-80K (Temp to hire or Direct Hire for the right person)**

**Job Purpose and Function:**

Responsible for biological evaluation of products with a focus on cell culture and potency assays. Duties include performing QC assays, writing and establishing specifications, assisting in the validation of QC assays, and writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Required for initial set-up of the relative potency assay in the QC laboratory and qualification of QC instrumentation. Provides data for stability program and responsible for writing stability protocols/reports. Utilizes scientific techniques to compile, investigate and analyze data. The ability to work independently, to communicate effectively and to solve problems is expected.

**Primary tasks include:**

+ Method validation, implementation, and maintenance of QC potency assay(s)
+ Maintenance of cell banks, cell cultures, and assay reagents
+ QC laboratory set-up and qualification of laboratory instrumentation
+ Author and review laboratory SOPs
+ Support Process Validation product testing
+ Provide data for the stability program
+ Assist with managing the stability program (ensure samples are pulled, report results and write reports)
+ Develop and manage sample handling and data reporting systems within the laboratories
+ Perform in-process, final release, stability testing with primary focus on potency assay(s)
+ Assist with process improvements and process development by providing laboratory data
+ Assist with assay development and implementation
+ Ensure lab inventory is sufficient by ordering and tracking lab supplies
**Other tasks and responsibilities include:**

+ QC data review
+ Lab maintenance (lab checks, data recording, instrument maintenance/calibration, etc.)
+ Lab cleaning (glassware, trash, general cleaning) and general supply maintenance
+ Other duties as required
**Key Skills Required:**

Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry or relevant area with 5-8 years of experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry (or related, regulated field). Direct experience in a GMP laboratory setting. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Specific assay experience in bioassay, cell-based potency assays, cell culture, ELISA and QC test methods.

Experienced with validating methods and verifying compendial assays. Knowledgeable of ICH and USP guidelines on validation and stability.

Understands aseptic processing and compliance requirements.

Strong Problem solving skills, i.e., Root Cause Analysis.
