We are currently seeking a Scientist with Next Generation Sequencing experience to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS: The contractor shall:

+ Operate and train operators on the Rapiflex Bruker equipment in the Tissue Analysis Core.

+ Conduct supervised research including planning and conducting experiments and data analysis.

+ Calibrate and operate a variety of laboratory instruments under GLP guidelines and follow SOPs to perform tests, analysis, and other procedures.

+ Interact with scientists from other organizations or institutions involved in similar or related research projects.

+ Interact with students, post-doctoral fellows and non-doctoral research technicians on experimental design and laboratory-based methodologies.

+ Maintain accurate, daily records of experiments.

+ Perform high level next generation DNA/RNA sequencing data analysis.

+ Manage the use and upkeep of the Genome Analysis Core next-generation sequencers and library prep workstation.

+ Design and implement improved methods to existing standard next generation sequencing protocols.

+ Develop protocols into SOPs for use in training material.

+ Write and review technical reports and protocols documenting formulation and stability.

REQUIREMENTS: The contractor must have:

+ Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.

+ Minimum of two years experience in a science related field.

+ Experience characterizing biological molecules by spectrometry.

+ Experience identifying nucleotides.

+ Strong background in both physical and chemical stability of proteins, including a thorough understanding of biophysical and bioanalytical properties of proteins and biologics.

+ Hands-on experience in theory, use, and data analysis of next generation sequencing.

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.

+ Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
