**TASKS.** The contractor shall:


+ Provide oversight and coordination of various research projects, including both single-institution and multi-institutional research and clinical management trials.
+ Oversee efforts to develop independent research projects that support studying the molecular and cellular biology of thoracic cancers, with special focus on those affecting surface cavities like mesothelioma and thymic epithelial tumors.
+ Investigate microRNA-mRNA interactions to inform on the pathogenic signaling pathways relevant to tumor initiation, invasion, metastasis and resistance in malignant mesothelioma.
+ Develop novel molecular biomarkers and identify therapeutic targets based on an understanding of the active cancer-specific mechanisms.
+ Coordinate trial and grant submissions.
+ Oversee and provide guidance on the daily operation of projects and activities.
+ Record, code, analyze and evaluate data obtained in accordance with methods requested.
+ Plan and execute the details of studies; evaluate and interpret the results.
+ Perform data collect, entry and storage quality control.
+ Collaborate with staff on the development and revision of clinical studies; coordinate this effort with institutional regulatory offices such as the IRB and the Clinical Research Management.
+ Collaborate with staff on the preparation of reports, abstracts, manuscripts, poster and podium presentations.
+ Train biologists, post-docs and clinical fellows on laboratory techniques.
+ Attend meetings, both internal and external; present results and findings for discussion.
**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:


+ Ph.D. in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Engineering, Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Biochemistry or a related discipline.
+ Minimum of four (4) years of post-doctoral research with experience in general techniques in molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, ChIP, retroviral or lentiviral transfections, FACS sorting and animal work.
+ Knowledge and/or experience in bioinformatics/biostatistics, mutation detection, microarray analysis, RNA-seq and other sequencing methodology, microRNA or other noncoding RNA.
+ Experience in writing research results, including abstracts, poster and podium presentations and manuscript preparation.
+ Experience using reference management software.
+ Knowledge of cancer biology or stem cell biology.
+ Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills.
