**Scientist / Sr. Scientist (Protein Conjugation) - Thousand Oaks, CA**



This is an exciting opportunity contribute to the science and culture of a well- funded biotech start-up with an experienced management team. This position combines strategic skills relating to protein conjugation and characterization of protein conjugates, with direct responsibility for the design, synthesis, analysis and characterization of protein conjugates.



The successful candidate will perform hands-on experiments and assay development to generate pre-clinical data in addition to working cross-functionally and with external laboratories and contract manufacturing organizations.



**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**




+ Design and execution of synthetic routes to prepare and characterize protein conjugates

+ Formulation and characterization of drug candidates containing protein conjugates

+ Analysis of experimental data and presentation to senior management and regulatory agencies

+ Participation on drug discovery project teams, providing expertise regarding protein conjugation and protein chemistry

+ Contributing to the design, synthesis and characterization of new candidates, selection of specifications, and stability testing

+ Preparation and communication of research results in both oral and written format

+ Oversight of other research scientists and external vendors in a fast-paced R&D environment (Sr. level).



**Job Requirements:**




+ Ph.D. or M.S. degree in Biochemistry, Synthetic Organic, Medicinal Chemistry, or related field, with preference for those with industry experience and with protein conjugation experience.

+ Broad experience with bioanalytical and biophysical characterization of proteins and antibodies (e.g. HPLC, LC-MS, ELISA, SPR/BLI)

+ Familiarity with aspects of drug discovery and development, including formulation sciences, ADME, toxicology and regulatory, and an ability to interact with those functions

+ Experience developing therapeutic candidates in the biopharmaceutical industry

+ Strong communication skills, good problem-solving abilities, and an ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with a diverse team of co-workers.

+ Energetic, highly motivated, strong team player with a passion for scientific discovery and the ability to collaborate in a interdisciplinary environment.
