Kelly Scientific Resources is looking for a bright, hard-working and experienced scientist to join a dynamic research and development team in Kimberton, Pennsylvania. This role is responsible for leading the execution of laboratory work for new and reformulation efforts across a variety of products and product lines.

**Essential Functions**


+ Conduct research in the areas of formulation modifications and potential new product development;
+ Develop new applications or customize existing applications to meet specific scientific project needs;
+ Summarize and communicate data results to the broader technology team and recommend new systems and processes to improve operations;
+ Document all work product in a clear and logical manner using standard scientific reports;
+ Provide input into quality control testing protocols as necessary.
**Required Competencies**

+ Provides leadership by example regarding safe work practices;
+ Utilizes a logical and analytical scientific approach to execute research projects;
+ Complete assignments in a timely manner, documenting all work accurately and completely;
+ Ability to self-prioritize project work to optimize productivity;
+ Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and applicable software systems;
+ Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
**Qualifications and Skills**

Education

B.S. or M.S. Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or equivalent required.

Skills and Experience


+ The individual will have 3+ years technical experience in the building products industry, preferably with formulating knowledge of asphalt, acrylic, and/or moisture cure coatings, adhesives, and sealants;
+ The individual will have a track record of executing technology projects from inception through completion;
+ Demonstrated ability to take product concepts from the laboratory to the plant and ultimately to commercialization. Comfortable working and communicating with Operations to facilitate scale-up;
+ Possess an understanding of the chemistry, physical properties, processing and storage of finished product formulations and their potential utilization in other applications, as well as aging mechanisms; and
+ Experience in DSC, TGA, Rheometry, and SEM a plus.
**Position Type and Expected Hours of Work**

This is a full-time position with a flexible work schedule that will typically require at least 40 hours per week, including occasional after-hours and weekend work.

**Work Environment**

In addition to the standard office and laboratory environments, this position involves occasional work at manufacturing facilities and job sites typical of the construction trade.
