Senior Chemist


Our client is looking for experienced and motivated Senior Chemist to join our mid-scale Oligonucleotide Synthesis/production group to synthesize, purify and deliver oligonucleotides to support therapeutic programs and to support our new therapeutic modality approaches.


Our client is a genetic medicine company focusing on base editing of mRNA transcripts to discover and develop innovative therapeutics that can utilize a family of endogenous enzymes called adenosine deaminase acting on RNA ADAR to precisely target and correct single point mutations on a mRNA, thus the production of desired and functional protein is restored, to provide effective and safe therapeutics to patients who suffer from currently undruggable diseases.


Responsibilities:


Design and execute the automated high throughput solid-phase synthesis, purification, and analysis of oligonucleotides with various chemical modifications at small to mid scales


Method development for improved oligonucleotide synthesis and purification processes as well as assays


Operate, maintain troubleshoot oligonucleotide synthesis platforms, HPLCs and other scientific equipment lead a small oligo synthesis team to enable milligram to gram scale synthesis and delivery of complex oligonucleotides


Collaborative research with other members of the chemistry and biology teams


Requirements / Qualifications:


PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry with 3 years of experience or Masters Degree in with 5 years experience in oligonucleotide syntheses, purification and analyses


Strong laboratory skills and experience in synthesis, purification, and characterization of oligonucleotides


Demonstrated track record of leading oligonucleotide production teams


Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment Superior laboratory skills and awareness of laboratory safety


Excellent oral and written communication skills
