Description and Requirements

The Senior Director, Product Testing will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the testing of new and existing software products and/or product enhancements across the WCG product portfolio.  This role will provide direct management, oversight, guidance, and support to employees and teams who plan and execute test efforts across WCG software products and applications to ensure all test activities comply with approved processes and best practices. The Senior Director, Product Testing will review and approve test artifacts such as requirements, test plans, test cases, test scripts, defect resolutions and completion reports.  This role will manage pre- and post-execution reviews on test scripts and ensure that traceability between test cases and requirements is established and maintained.

  • Bachelors degree in technology or business-related discipline; Masters degree in Technology or Business Administration preferred

  • 12+ years of experience testing enterprise solutions within an agile environment in the life sciences/pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • 6+ years of management experience with a track of record of leading test teams in a validated industry
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards
  • Solid knowledge of testing best practices and experience with testing scenarios on various platforms using a combination of custom tools and/or commercial products
  • Experience with software testing and/or engineering, including but not limited to, test methodologies, feature, functional, automation and regression testing
  • Experience working with a variety of testing tools and formats including hardcopy or electronic script formats, automated frameworks, QA and validation materials  
  • Must have excellent leadership skills and be an innovative problem solver
  • Project and resource management experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
  • Manage all planned phases of the test cycle, including Integration/System Testing, Performance Testing, Load Testing, Regression Testing, User Acceptance Testing, etc.
  • Provide management and oversight to testing team by actively motivating, coaching, mentoring, training and managing performance.
  • Manage the process of creating and executing complex, multi-platform test plans and procedures.
  • Participate in development processes to support software quality efforts.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to testing engineers in the identification and documentation of product defects.
  • Work collaboratively with test teams to understand requested changes and requirements; and to determine the impact of those changes to the testing effort.
  • Comply with WCG standard business processes and best practices.
  • Enhance product quality within the application by developing and implementing effective test strategies and best of breed testing scenarios that minimize risk while improving quality. 
  • Lead the testing effort across the WCG product portfolio.
  • Establish a testing architecture that supports world class testing environments, including test data and testing tools across the WCG Technology team profile suite.
  • Ensure collaboration of test team with users, designers and programmers to create/analyze various required project documents and give feedback and recommendations on software usability and functionality.
  • Set the vision for a world class test automation system.  Ensure implementation and continuous enhancement of this automated test system. 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.
