**Dow** has exciting opportunities for **Senior Instrument Engineer** positions with a preferred location of **Freeport, TX.** Other locations within the U.S. Gulf Coast will be considered.

Senior Instrument Engineers provide specialized technical support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance. The Hardware Disciplines within Engineering and Maintenance are comprised of the following disciplines: Buildings, Civil, Electrical, Instrument, Materials, Mechanical, Process Containment Equipment and Piping. Hardware Disciplines support both projects and technical support teams as a technical expert recognized as a go to person within their site/region for their area of expertise, or as discipline lead on projects. Acts as a resources for colleagues with less experience and works independently, receiving minimal guidance. In the technical expert capacity, at this level, is primarily involved in application of technology. Resolves problems which are complex. Leads technical problem solving within a specific technology area to deliver value for Dow. Participates on global teams to continuously improve most effective technology (MET) and best practices. In the project lead capacity, has an excellent understanding and applies GPM, MET, their discipline work process and associated best practices to deliver safe, cost effective and efficient solutions that meet the business opportunity plan for both intermediate and large projects.

**Responsibilities / Duties:**

In the technical expert capacity:

+ Leads efforts in defining and implementing technology strategy and held accountable for strategy implementation.

+ Identifies and develops both technology and work process enhancements which deliver value.

+ Supports the implementation of discipline technology strategy and provide input/feedback on the strategy within their area of expertise.

+ Serves as site or regional technology focal point, providing timely technical reviews and input to complex designs and/or variances from MET both on projects and in support of maintenance/operations.

In the project lead capacity:

+ Function as a Senior Instrument Engineer/Lead on medium to large projects up to $10 million Total Installed Cost (TIC). The projects will be located in plants in the US Gulf Coast (Texas and Louisiana) & Canada.

+ Has accountability for project results and for the implementation of and adherence to all relevant work processes and best practices.

+ Drives front end loading to ensure clear scope definition along with establishing staffing plans and schedules to enable adequate control during execution.

+ Develops staffing plans, directs activities within their discipline and coordinates activities with other disciplines. For projects which utilize engineering firms, they work with their counterpart at the EPC to do so.

+ Leads the completion of deliverables provided to estimating and reviews output of the estimate to ensure accurate reflection of scope.

+ Ensures their deliverables meet the needs of the project: function as intended, on time and within budget.

+ Leads technical contract package development and supports implementation.

+ Drives value engineering and economic designs to ensure the best value is delivered to the business

+ Uses and enforces project change management program.

+ Understand project scopes of work and read marked up P&IDs.

+ Design and specify instrumentation for purchase for projects up to $10 million TIC. Typical instrumentation includes pressure, temperature, flow, level, automated block valves, control valves, and restriction orifices.

+ Ensures safety in design.

+ MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

**Required Qualifications: (** **Candidates must meet all required qualifications to be considered** **)**

+ A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering

+ A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (i.e. engineering, manufacturing or related)

+ A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Microstation SE and/or AutoCAD.

+ Experience with instrument design and selection using SPI (Intools), Propix or other similar software

+ Experience in instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting
