**Summary**

Seeking a highly motivated, creative Mechanical Design Engineer for the design of vacuum process equipment for thin film deposition.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will interface and collaborate closely with other team members and technology departments as required to support product development and improvement activities.

Vacuum deposition or etch system experience is highly preferred but not required.

**Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)**


+ Design mechanical systems, and/or specify use of existing systems, apply knowledge and practice with engineering principles.
+ Design machine parts and assemblies using **SolidWorks and PDM vault** .
+ Prepare assembly and detailed drawings. Understands and utilizes GD&T.
+ Perform analysis as necessary to validate design concepts, prepare and perform design reviews.
+ Collaborate with sourcing to work with vendors to select parts and components.
+ Work to budgets and timelines relative to project tasks. Understands system cost considerations and works to present tradeoffs and support decision-making activities.
+ Work on shop floor to resolve design conflicts.
**Skills, Education and Experience**


+ **Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering** or higher.
+ **_8+ years of experience._**
+ Experience in designing vacuum deposition or etch systems is highly desirable…not required.
+ Must have a proven record of developing designs from concept to product commercialization
+ Proficiency in **SolidWorks** .
+ **Finite Element Analysis (FEA)** and thermal modeling ability is necessary, as is the ability to model dynamic mechanical systems.
+ Experience with pneumatics, drive systems, vibration control, motion and control systems, heat transfer, and fixturing is preferred.
+ Project management experience is a plus.
+ Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
