**Title: Senior Scientist, Computational Chemistry**

**Summary** :

The Computational Chemistry Senior Scientist will be a member of the Lead Generation & Pharmacology team and will be responsible for computational chemistry support of Ferrings internal portfolio, in Reproductive Medicine & Maternal Health, Gastroenterology, Immunology, and Uro-oncology therapeutic areas. The computational chemistry group supports small molecule and biotherapeutic project teams all the way from target identification, hit discovery, lead optimization, and ultimately through drug candidate selection by applying state-of-the-art computational software, computer aided drug design, cheminformatics, and simulation techniques to help drive drug-discovery. The successful candidate will be accountable for devising and championing the development/application of computational chemistry and molecular modeling techniques that solve key problems for project, chemistry, and biologics teams. He/she will collaborate in a cross-functional team, across several groups within the organization fostering a culture of engagement and scientific rigor.


+ Apply state-of-the-art computational chemistry and molecular modeling methods in support of small molecule and/or biotherapeutic drug discovery efforts.

+ Contribute to project teams across all stages of a program, including: target selection, target validation, lead generation and lead optimization and ultimately drug candidate selection.

+ Guide project teams in the design of drugs with improved potency, selectivity, functional activity and/or ADME properties.

+ Work closely with the screening and medicinal chemistry groups to identify novel chemical starting points for new small molecule projects.

+ Identify, evaluate, and implement novel computational chemistry and molecular modeling methods in support of drug discovery projects.

+ Represent the computational chemistry group as a subject matter expert within Ferring and through external collaborations.


+ A Ph.D. in computational chemistry or related field is required.

+ 3-5+ years of relevant drug discovery experience including demonstrated impact and key contributions on progressing projects **within an industry setting is required.**

+ Expert knowledge of a diverse set of computational methodologies and the ability to apply those methodologies to impact overall drug discovery effort is required.

+ Familiarity with standard computational chemistry modeling software (e.g., Schrodinger, OpenEye, etc.) is required.

+ Expertise in scientific programming/scripting and data analytics (e.g. Pipeline Pilot, Python, etc.) is preferred.

+ Experience with machine learning, QSAR modeling, and cheminformatics is preferred.

+ Ability to multi-task and set priorities on multiple projects is required.

+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multi-disciplinary/cross-functional project teams within a matrixed environment is required.

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills is required.

+ Strong scientific track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or patents is required.
