Industrial Sewer I, II, III

Reports to: Sewing Lead


Job Description: The Industrial Sewer will operate a sewing machine to join, gather, hem, or reinforce materials. Responsibilities and expectations include but are not limited to:


Ensure quality metrics are met while maintaining a 95% or higher accuracy rating while working to meet or exceed Gary Platts standards.

Eye for detail to identify units that fail tolerance levels or quality standards and repair as necessary.

Position is on the production line and must work at a quick pace without sacrificing quality.

Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Sewer I - $14 - $15

Experience: 0 1 year

Skill: Sewer I is an entry level position with the ability to mark, trim and sew using a single needle machine with fabric and vinyl. The Sewer I is also proficient in doing welt and surge.

Main Objective: The primary focus is to learn the sewing basics with an emphasis on quality over quantity. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.


Sewer II - $15 - $17

Experience: 1 + years

Skill: Sewer II can perform all duties of a Sewer I with the ability to sew on single and double needle machines with both fabric and vinyl. Sewer II understands all facets of set-up and operation of an industrial sewing machine.

Main Objective: Sewer II sews a minimum of (12) covers per hour and proficient sewing different chair types. Primary job functions typically require exercising independent judgment, such as adjusting the sewing machine for different types of materials.


Sewer III - $17 - $20.00

Experience: 1+yrs

Skill: Sewer III can perform all duties of a Sewer I and II with the ability to sew on single and double needle machines with both fabric and vinyl. Sewer II understands all facets of set-up and operation of an industrial sewing machine.


Fabric Trimmer/ Sewing Support

Reports to: Sewing Lead

Job Description: Sewing Support is tasked with using hand tools to cut, trim and mark a variety of fabric, vinyl and/or foam.

Sewing Support/Trimmer - $14.00-$14.50

Experience: N/A

Skill: N/A

Main Objective: Sewing Support is an entry level position. Primary job function is to cut, trim and mark different types of fabric, vinyl and/or foam. Sewing Support assists the Sewing Lead in distributing work among the sewing team. They might garner cross-training in other parts of the sewing area to progress and become a Sewer I.


Upholsterer I, II, III

Reports to: Upholstery Lead within dept.


Job Description: An upholsterer installs chair covers and foam to wood or plastic components with a variety of hand tools. Responsibilities and expectations include but are not limited to:


Ensure quality metrics are met while maintaining a 95% or higher accuracy rating while working to meet or exceed Gary Platts standards.

Eye for detail to identify units that fail tolerance levels or quality standards and repair as necessary.

Position is on the production line and must work at a quick pace without sacrificing quality.

Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Upholsterer I - $14 - $15

Experience: 0 1 year

Skill: Upholsterer I is an entry level position with the ability to Install outside back material with either glue or staples (posting), post seats, accurately trim excess material off a variety of components and close all outside backs and standard seats. Specialty task at this level include using the press and upholster seat shrouds.

Main Objective: Learn upholstering basics with an emphasis on quality over quantity.


Upholsterer II - $15 - $17

Experience: 1-3 years

Skill: Upholsterer II is able to perform all duties of an Upholsterer I. This level of skill is proficient on the press, all tasks on the glue line, posting all inside back styles as well as all sound chair styles.

Main Objective: Upholsterer II is able to upholster a minimum of (12) pieces per hour and be proficient upholstering different chair types. Primary job functions typically require exercising some independent judgment.


Upholsterer III - $17 - $20

Experience: 3 + years

Skill: Upholsterer III is able to perform all duties of an Upholsterer I and II.

Main Objective: Upholsterer III consistently maintains a higher production rate than level I and II producing no less than (12) pieces per hour. An Upholsterer III exhibits a certain degree of creativity and latitude. This level of expertise is proficient in upholstering all chair styles by press, glue and staple. Upholsterer II can manage staff in the absence of the lead as well as train new employees. Primary job functions typically require exercising independent judgment.


Main Objective: Sewer III consistently maintains a higher production rate than level I and II producing no less than (12) covers per hour. Sewer III is familiar with all chair patterns and can sew the most difficult designs (sound chairs, Capri, Vue with hole, Ohio, etc. Primary job functions typically require exercising independent judgment, such as adjusting the sewing machine for different types of materials. Sewer III can manage the staff in the absence of the lead.


Assembler I, II, III

Reports to: Assembly Lead within dept.


Job Description: An assembler puts together fabricated parts to create various understructures using a variety of hand/power tools according to product specifications. Responsibilities and expectations include but are not limited to:


Ensure quality metrics are met while maintaining a 95% or higher accuracy rating while working to meet or exceed Gary Platts standards.

Eye for detail to identify units that fail tolerance levels or quality standards and repair as necessary.

Position is on the production line and must work at a quick pace without sacrificing quality.

Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Assembler I Experience: 0 1 year - $14 - $15

Assembler II Experience: 1 3 year - $15 - $17

Assembler III Experience: 3+ years - $17 - $20
