Software and Test Engineer (Huron, Ohio)

Our client in plastic fabrication is currently hiring a Test Engineer to develop, troubleshoot and support testing equipment, software and prototypes, used in both production and engineering. This position is a Direct Hire role.



Incumbent will run experimental test programs used to further material research, investigate test and product variability, and develop new product performance from software.



This is a highly visible position with a critical impact on the companys future. Internal and external contacts include all levels of employees within the company, division management, consultants, and other professional business contacts within the industry. External contacts are key to the effective execution of the objectives of the company. Frequently these interactions will involve extremely complex, emotional and sensitive issues. Success in this area is vital for the development of the existing and future business.



Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Analyzes and evaluates development and production requirements for new or modified test equipment, methods, processes, and procedures.

Develops documents and improves test procedures with written instructions.

Develops instrumentation and software setups for new testing.

Manages the design and prototyping of new and improved test fixtures and equipment for experimental testing.

Plans, coordinates, analyzes, reports on research testing into product performance, test variability, material performance.

Performs statistical analysis as a part of analyzing data.

Writes reports on test results.

Works with customers to investigate and resolve their test issues.

Participates in SAE, GTR, ISO, OSRP, and other customer focused committees and groups to work with customers.

Prepares and presents PowerPoint presentations of studies for internal and external customers.

Interfaces with production, engineering, FE group, and customers to coordinate and improve testing.

Performs tests as necessary to try out test procedures, investigate tests, and to assist in completing testing on time.



Qualifications:

Minimum three (3) years of software and testing engineering experience developing, troubleshooting, and supporting tests for production and engineering (need someone good in prod. environment running experimental test programs and software).

Professional Demeanor and superb communication skills- need someone who can handle themselves in meetings and with upper management and internal and external vendors.

Ability to lead projects with little supervision.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Engineering related math skills essential. Statistical analysis essential.

Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomechanical Engineering or a related field, or a commensurate level of related experience.

Training and experience in statistical analysis.

Training in ISO-17025 (Testing and Calibration Laboratories), Measurement Uncertainty, and Proficiency Testing, as appropriate.

VBA or other scripting language experience preferred.
