**Location:** Hillsboro, OR



**Duration:** Direct Hire/FTE




+ Uses expert embedded software knowledge to lead the development of innovative embedded and system software prototypes that solve complex problems and/or demonstrate significant improvement over current solutions regarding stability, performance and scalability (e.g. new added-value features, better quality and/or reliability, higher performance, lower cost, etc.).

+ Participates in development and maintenance of embedded software technologies road-map: e.g. including processor architectures, open-source and commercial operating-systems, programming languages, development tools and libraries.

+ Provides considerable high level technical guidance and strategically conveys knowledge and direction to colleagues to build and produce better outcomes.

+ Maintains awareness of new embedded processors, operating-systems, languages, development tools, standards and Intellectual Property (IP), and how they are being used in key industries: e.g. vacuum, compressors, automotive, industrial control & monitoring, instrumentation & measurement, and Industry 4.0 / Internet of Things.

+ Documents clearly and communicates all aspects of work across the full life-cycle of software development projects: including road-maps, NTV proposals, concepts, detail designs, test results, IP, application notes, final reports, project plans and status etc.

+ Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance; works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.





**Required Skills:**




+ Must be highly proficient in C/C++ programming of microprocessors or microcontrollers. Decent exposure to C# or Java in desktop applications is preferable. Good understanding of different Databases (SQL and non-SQL) technologies and applications.

+ Must be proficient in multi-tasking and/or multi-threaded coding for bare-metal and embedded operating-system environments.

+ Experience coding for ARM based processors and/or latest generation NXP processors would be a distinct advantage.

+ Must have detailed knowledge of Linux and experience in developing software for Linux based hardware.

+ Must have detailed knowledge of programming serial digital interfaces (e.g. I2C, SPI, RS232/485, USB)

+ Knowledge and experience of several data communications buses/protocols.

+ Must have a general knowledge of electronic circuits and components.

+ Must be familiar with software development life-cycle models, including software testing methods.

+ Experience with software engineering CASE and IDE tools is expected. Visual Studio, Axosoft, Eclipse, Git, and SVN would be a distinct advantage.

+ Must be highly proficient in using Microsoft Office tools.

+ Must be a highly self-motivated problem solver who is equally able to work alone or as an effective team player.

+ Must be willing and able to plan and deliver work to agreed timescales and to adopt relevant company policies and procedures.

+ Must be able to provide realistic estimates for timescales and costs for each NTV project, though this role does not directly include specific budget responsibility.
