Location: East Lansing, MI (remote)

Can work 100% remote if located in one of the following states:

Michigan, Georgia, South Carolina, Maryland, Florida, Minnesota, Virginia, Texas, Indiana, Kentucky, Arizona or Louisiana

Kelly Technology is currently recruiting for a Software Quality Assurance Test Lead. The ideal candidate should have broad QA experience in both web and mobile apps, and the ability to link those front end digital experiences back into legacy core systems. Having automation test experience with tools that are unit test/API focused (not just Selenium) is highly desired. Top three skill set hiring manager is looking for includes strong background in QA Strategy, Test Planning and Coaching/Mentoring.

This QA Lead needs to be comfortable supporting the broad landscape of our applications supporting our various business units. The candidate is comfortable with ambiguity and change, and learns quickly by asking excellent questions. This person will be able to establish relationships quickly with Business Partners, BAs, Project Managers, Tech Lead, Scrum Masters, and the SQAs who will serve as their key network in helping to establish healthy test strategies. Lastly, this person is able to establish a presence in digital channels making sure they are active in the various team and project channels. The QA Lead will also work with the Tech Lead and the scrum team to establish a backlog of stories and acceptance criteria needed to complete the work. This role will also be spending time coordinating and tracking beta/UAT testing efforts that usually employees and a subset of members contribute to this role will need to help provide guidance on test scenarios needing to be tested and ensure issues reported are tracked appropriately according to our defect management process. To keep current, this role may also spend a small portion of time testing alongside the embedded QAs

This role requires deep passion and a desire for achieving a high impact on the quality and enablement of our key business processes and environments across our core, web, mobile and API technical landscape by translating requirements into effective test strategies and plans. You will work closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Tech Leads, and embedded QAs on highly interactive scrum teams dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions. This role will help create a long-term vision and roadmap of needed quality improvements and also serve as a coach helping other QA team members understand and appreciate the art of quality testing. Using your ambition, curiosity, creativity, and technical skills this role allows you to influence project outcomes and you will advocate for quality and continuous improvement in the entire software development process by leading efforts to plan, organize, coordinate, and track testing activities ensuring the successful deployment of projects.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

**Test Strategy Planning & Execution:**

Responsible for creating test strategy and plans

Pursue strong testing practices through a culture of continuous improvement

Review and re-evaluate the test strategy to adjust for new information, changing risks, shifting priorities, and schedules

Identify and resolve testing related issues and risks

Analyze business and functional requirements and translate requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions

Collaborate with other business units to understand the business and ensure quality is infused into proposed solutions

Develop end to end test scenarios with the end user in mind to demonstrate having a clear understanding of the entire process flow

Create and execute test scenarios based on business requirements or user stories and architectural requirements

Define Sprint and Release testing scope and estimation for each sprint

Responsible and accountable for developing and maintaining Agile testing metrics for each Sprint and Release

Actively participate in requirement review sessions, peer test case reviews, and facilitate defect review sessions with development teams and product owners

Collaborate and integrate with Development teams during development, UAT teams during acceptance testing and the Release Team for deployments and post-deployment QA

**Coaching & Mentoring:**

Share in the vision of the product and drive team towards that vision

Lead/mentor other QAs and share knowledge to make sure QA staff meets technical qualifications

Oversee scrum team testing of software features ensuring adherence to QA best practices and test strategy

Oversee maintenance and health of test repository ensuring tool capabilities are being utilized effectively and is providing appropriate data into test and defect reports

Ensure test results generated by scrum teams are adequately documented and communicated to project stakeholders

Support defect management ensuring appropriate triaging of reported issues and reporting is distributed to project teams

**User Acceptance & Beta Test Coordinator:**

Track and support User Acceptance and Beta testing efforts including defect triaging of issues reported ensuring the solutions developed meet business goals and needs

Identify and facilitate issue resolution with functional and technical groups

Track and report issues in a timely manner

Works closely with the business and PMO to create reports and data timely helping to support business decisions and project work


Act as an advocate for quality assurance best practices and evangelize QA across the organization

Assist in formulating QA standards and best practices and test strategies

Assist management in setting the direction for quality assurance within the organization

Be at the forefront of evolving the way we work across both business and technical teams by incorporating design thinking and end to end collaboration

Help improve QA practices and processes by creating and maintaining documentation, QA templates, and other related artifacts

Be the face of QA The go-to person for anything QA

Be responsible and held accountable for the quality of products developed

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:**

Top three skill set needed is strong background in QA Strategy, Test Planning and Coaching/Mentoring.

QA Strategy ability to build QA methodology/best practices and teams around an Agile testing framework (knows how to support ATDD and SDET concepts)

Test Planning ability to establish a test strategy/plan at an epic/feature level and be able to hand off test execution to embedded QAs within the scrum teams (QA Lead should be establishing test scenarios test cases and detailed execution is done by the embedded QAs)

Coaching/Mentoring Ability to mentor embedded QAs and able to hold them accountable in their test execution and defect management using metrics

Jira use Xray as a plug in to manage our test case repository

Browserstack for our virtual device testing inventory

Katalon Studios for web/mobile automation

SoapUI/Postman for API testing

7+ years of QA experience

A minimum of 3 years experience managing medium-to-large sized projects

Proficient in quality assurance methodologies and procedures in an Agile landscape

Must be able to act in a Subject Matter Expert (SME) QA role for various projects and initiatives

Must possess a solid understanding of how various systems and applications interact

Excellent problem solving skills and an ability to anticipate possible outcomes and issues not readily apparent

Demonstrated ability to probe and initiate research to identify critical problems and areas of significant concern or opportunity and answer them with solution recommendations including the ability to clearly articulate pertinent information to agile teams

Willingness and able to handle contingencies and changes with a demonstrated ability to help lead change in a positive mindset helping others overcome resistance to needed change

Ability to work at both detailed and abstract levels
