Description We have a client in Duluth who is seeking a Sourcing Manager with strategic sourcing experience. This person does not need to have management experience yet. The ideal candidate who someone who has worked in a highly strategic sourcing environment (maybe for a larger company) and is looking for the opportunity to take the next step in their career. Strategic sourcing experience is a must. Other areas/requirements below can be trained!

Overall responsibility to manage the commercial and contractual relationships for a large portion of the organization’s suppliers. Utilizing a structured Sourcing Process, such as Six Step Strategic Sourcing, analyze and recommend suppliers whose products and services meet the needs of the organization in terms of quality, physical & performance specifications and our standards of price, delivery, and reliability of supply. Negotiate overall supply agreement with suppliers including prices, delivery conditions, payment terms, warranty and indemnification. High level of interface with Manufacturing, Marketing and Sales to understand product needs and category trends.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:


+ Sourcing of raw materials and finished goods purchased for resale/distribution to customers.
+ Negotiate best price for materials; identify opportunities for lower cost via Design to Value processes with existing suppliers, identification of potential new suppliers and coordination with in house engineering resources (ie. redesigned components and/or lower cost alternatives), and manage existing vendor relationships to ensure quality, cost and service KPI’s are met.
+ Lead or participate in Continuous Improvement processes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Procure to Pay systems.
+ Keep track of current market commodity price trends/indexes (ie. Resins, chemicals, metals) and use that data to ensure current and future pricing reflects market conditions.
+ Work closely with other members of the Global Sourcing team, manufacturing plants, and subsidiary procurement team members to ensure coordination of efforts and maximize efficiencies (ie. Combined spends/reduced complexity of buy).
SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment, and have a strong attention to detail. Must be a proactive “self starter” who can work well without constant supervision. Must have ability to interact with wide variety of people. Very strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Strong negotiation skills and excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Requires 5 to 10 years of sourcing experience in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment. Experience in plastics, engineered components and metals preferred. Bachelor degree required.
