**Shift: Tuesday-Friday, 7am/8am-4/5pm ( Saturday is to 6:30pm)**

**Job Summary:**

The performance of a group or organization is dependent on its leaders and team members, as well as the environment upon which they are making an impact. Leaders and team members should work together to clarify thinking, develop ideas, and gain confidence in policies as they evolve. This mid-level to advanced position involves leadership in two main areas: personnel and processes. This person provides daily supervision regarding staff and equipment allocation. This person is responsible for the quality of the work performed in the department and in improving the performance to meet the evolving needs of in-house and external clients.


+ Bachelor's degree or College level training in science with good understanding of volumetric/gravimetric measurements

+ + 5 years laboratory experience, preferably in a lab setting

**Major Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Serve as an organizational leader with responsibility for overall performance of the department operation

+ Maintains the department in a state of acceptable inspection readiness to meet all regulatory compliance standards

+ Schedules work and personnel tasks to meet laboratory requirements for reliable, timely and cost-effective processing of all specimens

+ Supervises and trains staff, hires/fires, manages performance, and reviews, initiates disciplinary action, and recommends salary changes

+ Develops career goals and training plans, reviews employee performance, and provides continuing education

+ Provide retraining/remediation when non-conformance is identified, and corrective actions occur

+ Acts as a technical resource

+ Actively prepares and reviews SOPs and performs final review for inspection readiness

+ Coordinates laboratory services along with other department supervisors

+ Prepares justification for additional resources (equipment and personnel) to ensure uninterrupted service and continuous improvement of services

+ Has demonstrated expertise in specimen processing procedures

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**

+ Possesses professional demeanor and maintains confidentiality

+ Possesses good interpersonal skills

+ Strong communication skills and clear focus on providing quality service to clients

+ Has knowledge of and requires self and staff to follow proper safety practices

+ Computer literacy to include Microsoft Word, and Excel

+ Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data and procedures, and to appropriately handle technical and clinical inquiries or complaints

+ Ability to write SOPs, effectively present information and respond to questions from all co-workers

+ Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches/presentations to subordinates, peers and management

+ Ability to define/resolve problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and implement solutions

+ Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in verbal, written, mathematical or diagrammatical form

+ Ability to create and communicate a variety of limited technical instructions

+ Possess business acumen

+ Familiarity with law enforcement and forensic science disciplines of drug identification and/or forensic toxicology.

+ Ability to develop business relationships and foster cooperation

+ Good written and verbal communication skills

+ Flexibility and ability to work independently

+ Possesses proficiency in LIMS and MS Office applications

+ Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor

+ Demonstrates a high level of integrity

+ Ability to be a team player and effectively present information and respond to questions from all co-workers
