Description and Requirements

The Senior Active Directory & Messaging Systems Engineer at WIRB-Copernicus Group (WCG) will primarily be responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Enterprise Active Directory Forest, Exchange 2013 / O365 mail environment, Google mail, Mimecast, on-prem Lync and Skype systems, and PKI infrastructure. This position provides Tier III Exchange and Active Directory troubleshooting and problem resolution; maintain email security settings, perform mailbox management, repair failed or corrupted exchange servers; and determine proper maintenance intervals and capacity planning. The engineer also maintains the health and operation of Skype Online, and associated Skype-integrated equipment. This position will also be responsible for providing documented support procedures for AD & messaging systems, and technical training and guidance to level-2 IT support team.  Within the scope of this position, contributes to the companys overall mission to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects involved in clinical research.  

LOCATION:  Our next hire can work at either our Hamilton NJ or Plymouth Meeting PA, location.  This is not a remote position.     

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other technical discipline highly desired.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSE/REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Microsoft or other industry certifications such as MCSE, MCITP and / or Security Certifications such as Security or CISSP preferred. Specific experience in Exchange 2013 or higher required.  

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: 

  • 4+ years of experience building and maintaining Active Directory (2012 and above) with extensive knowledge in all facets of AD-related tasks and activities, as well as with Domain Controllers

  • 4+ years of experience in providing Tier 3 support to Active Directory and Messaging Systems in a large enterprise (multi-domain) environment

  • 4+ years of experience building and maintaining on premise Microsoft Exchange (2013 and above), Lync and Skype messaging systems, Windows Server OS 2008 and above.

  • The candidate must possess in-depth knowledge and experience in the following areas:

    • Inter-networking of clients and Active Directory (name resolution, Kerberos \ NTLM Authentication, etc.)
    • Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring (MBAM)
    • Microsoft Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM)
    • Microsoft Distributed File System (DFS)
    • Microsoft Distributed File System Replication (DFSR)
    • Microsoft Unified Access Gateway (UAG)/Microsoft Web Application Proxy (WAP)
    • Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS)
    • Microsoft File/Print services
    • Knowledge of management and integration of identity management with Cloud Service Providers (Amazon, Azure and Office 365)
  • Working knowledge of SCCM and SCOM

  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Technologies (SSRS, SSIS, and T-SQL queries)

  • Experience with PKI and certificates

  • Experience with DMZ and secure communications

  • Familiarity with reading network traces

  • Knowledge of IPSec communications and OS firewall settings

  • Experience with virtualization platforms and hypervisors like Hyper-V and VMWare.

  • The candidate must have excellent customer service attitude and ability to work with others in a highly collaborative environment

  • Strong ability to communicate highly technical information to management teams

  • Ability to understand business' goals and objectives, with demonstrated ability to apply technology in solving business problems

  • Strong organizational skills, capability to schedule and coordinate multiple activities in results-oriented environment. Initiative and ability to enforce policies and procedures through influence

  • Highly available and responsive to occasional after-hours problem management in a mission critical 24/7 support environment

  • Advanced knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP and other networking protocols and services: DNS, WINS, DHCP, Routing, MAC

  • Strong understanding of LAN, WAN including firewall and VPN technologies

  • Working Knowledge of Scrum and Agile methodology

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Engineer and support multiple Active Directory domains.

  • Recommend improvements and optimize the Active Directory infrastructure.

  • Collaborating with the Infrastructure Architect to implement changes to the Active Directory infrastructure.

  • Work with external teams to maintain and enhance the Active Directory infrastructure.

  • Take ownership of multiple on premise Exchange and Lync systems and provide top-notch support by troubleshooting and resolving issues

  • Participate in and support migration projects to O365 cloud and de-commissioning on premise systems per plan

  • Establish standards and manage multi-tenant O365 cloud environment per best practices

  • Provide technical guidance and operational procedure to Level 2 support staff who support mobility users in office and remote locations globally

  • Work with close coordination with key stakeholders (Security, Network and Server Administrators) in Information Systems to plan/configure Active Directory

  • Design and manage Active Directory, Azure AD and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)

  • Maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and other security controls

  • Develop PowerShell scripts for administration tasks

  • Implement least privileged access controls

  • Knowledge of Microsoft permission types, precedents and managing ACLs

  • Provide up to date documentation on design and support processes

  • Lead and execute changes to production environment

  • May need to provide after hours on-call support in the evenings and weekends in case of emergencies.

  • May require domestic and international travel, approximately 10% of the time, including overnight and weekend stays as necessary, consistent with project needs and office location.
