Educational Requirements:

  • J.D. from an ABA accredited school

Certification / License / Registration Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice in one State bar, must be in good standing

Qualifications / Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience providing substantive labor & employment legal advice. Target candidates for this position should have strong employment law experience with law firm training (additional in-house experience is a plus), including knowledge of state and federal employment laws and drafting and negotiating employment contracts. Experience with corporate agreements and governance a plus as well.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising appropriate judgment in communicating relevant issues and matters to senior members of the legal team and appropriate company stakeholders.
  • Ability to take a stand on critical issues while maintaining the respect of, and influence among, key business partners.
  • Possess a practical and business-oriented approach to legal issues.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.

Essential Duties / Requirements:

  • The individual in this newly created role will work closely with the HR department and will be responsible for providing legal guidance on a range of employment-related matters, including terminations, compensation and benefits, restrictive covenants, and discrimination and harassment.
  • Manage outside counsel engagements in connection with employment litigation, including assisting in the development and execution of litigation management and strategy
  • Assist with periodic legal reviews of and updates employment agreement templates, employment practices and arrangements, and applicable company policies and disclosures
  • Conduct legal research regarding labor and employment issues and provide written guidance on same
  • Ensure the company conducts its business according to applicable federal and state laws and regulations
  • Foster a workplace with the highest moral, ethical, and legal standards to deliver an environment that promotes respect, innovation, and creativity
