Description and Requirements

The Senior Director, Project Management and Site Management US will lead the Project Management (PM) and Site Management (SM) teams for North America. The focus will be on driving the efficiency and consistency of these teams and on leading and developing our processes and people in achieving their goals. This role will be responsible for the governance, monitoring and process oversight of the PM and SM teams, to ensure consistently meeting customers expectations. This role will partner and be a resource with Business Development.

  • Bachelors degree in related field required.

  • PMP certification preferred.

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in the life sciences industry with progressive experience working in a leadership role at a CRO or pharmaceutical company.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive management experience, including leading managers of people. Experience in managing a team or department and leading effectively within a matrix environment needed.
  • Experience with content management in a regulated environment and knowledge of clinical research (GCP, CFR Part 11, basic regulatory requirements) required.
  • Experience writing and managing SOPs and the ability and desire to set up structures and processes when needed.
  • Must have patience to work with other systems (e.g., financial) that are being developed and a willingness to get involved in operational details.
  • Must have flexibility to assume a general leadership position and be team orientated.
  • Proven experience collaborating inter departmentally
  • Proven record of customer service focus
  • Must have strong experience managing projects for external clients.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop creative and innovative solutions needed.

  • To build, organize, and create a best in class Project Management and Site Management organization, to meet the clinical and technical needs of our external and internal clients/business in the assigned regions.
  • Through leadership of the assigned teams, drive to meet business strategy, goals and growth in the assigned regions.
  • Add value as a key member of the Clinical Operations leadership team identifying and implementing opportunities to align organizational structure with strategy to support productive growth.
  • Identify areas of growth, by understanding the business climate and the companys opportunities.
  • Collaborate and partner with Business Development, providing support for business development activities.
  • Lead change management activities, driving change through teams, providing support and guidance where needed.
  • Provide leadership for the PMO and support teams.
  • Work with your team leaders to define and implement metrics to track progress, as well as working practices to ensure required outcomes to clients.
  • Identify opportunities and provide direction to improve the quality of operational delivery.
  • Define, implement, track, and report on financial performance, operational delivery, productivity, and quality metrics for the PM and SM teams.
  • Identify opportunities, develop recommendations, and implementation strategies for continuous process optimization; lead process optimization activities in collaboration with other functions.
  • Drive consistency of approach and operational delivery across project teams to ensure implementation of best practice.
  • Oversee the review of proposal and budgets for accuracy and appropriate content.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations to stay abreast of clinical project management methods and industry trends.
  • Create policies, SOPs, and other controlled documents.

  • The position will be responsible for leading managers of people. This will include but is not limited to planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching, feedback, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Ability to travel domestic and internationally, approximately 25% of the time, including overnight and weekend stays as necessary, consistent with business needs and office location.
